I need all six, so preferably a set if that comes out cheaper. They have to be standard dimensions. By the way, are VVTi and non-VVTi bearings the same part number? Thanks in advance. No difference between VVTi and Non VVTi. Bearing. Thickness Size Mark Inches (mm). Part Number. Chris Wilson Posted March 8, 2010 Share Posted March 8, 2010 You could put a set of ACL bearings in it? They are good and easily available by mail, at a decent price. On a used engine going by the original bearing codes is pointless, you need some known shells and a micrometer, with a VERY good feel for using one, too. We are talking six tenths of one thousandth of an inch difference, thickest to thinnest. Plastiguage will work too. Miguel Posted March 8, 2010 Share Posted March 8, 2010 (edited) As Chris has mentioned above, you need to have a measure up of the crank and rods to choose which bearing gives the required oil clearance. The number mark system Toyota puts on the bearings, rods and crank, doesn't take into account wear or re-grinds. What is the correct rod bolt torque settings for stock VVTi 2JZ-GTE rods and bolts (as per the Toyota manual)? I have found these numbers for the 2JZ-GE NA engine but I don't know whther GTE numbers differ: Connecting Rod Bolt Step 1 .................................... 21 lbs/ft (29 nm) Step 2 ........................... Chris Wilson Posted March 9, 2010 Share Posted March 9, 2010 All rods are the same, as are the torque settings, although I would strongly advise you fir new ARP rod bolts rather than re use old stock ones. ARP shells are either stock or oversize if you have ground the crank. I wouldn't use a ground crank, good stock size secondhand ones are very cheap. We will reuse the old crank as it has done roughly 40k kms and is as new. We are only replacing the rod bearings as a safety measure as we have already split sump.
