hi ive just bought a supra tt and it does not seem to be boosting on the 1st turbo but the 2nd seems to be fine coming in at about4500 -5000 rpm but as it gets warmer the smoke gets thicker :( when you come to a stop a nice white cloud covers the car, (stealth mode) lol... so i asume it the 1st turbo that is knackerd and was wondering if i was right or not ?? and how easy are they to change?? any help or advise etc would be good thanks ken :D

If it smokes when you stop accelerating (over-run) then I had this problem and it is turbo oil seals, check your IC pipework and if there is much oil then its definate....

Best advice as for repairing is to whip them off and send them to CR Turbos http://www.crturbos.co.uk, its worth getting both refurbed because you never know when the other may let go! They were very cheap for me, to refurb both tubbies about £320 Per turbo before VAT, and they came back looking like new!!

Hope this helps!

Blue smoke is generally turbo oil seals, I shoul know, Ive been there enough lol. And oil in the cooler pipes doesnt indicate turbo oil seal failure.

Changing turbos isnt really a big job but it is a pain in the arse. No special tools needed but make a note of where all the vac lines go, and be ready for manifold nuts hell. I never experienced it when Ive changed them but people have reported it.

If you can perhaps post a vid up of the smoke?

Problem 4: I can't get any boost on the first turbo, it oscillates around a low boost pressure.

A rare one this, your IACV is stuck open, and every time turbo #1 makes boost it takes pretty much the easiest way out - via the non-spinning 2nd turbo and back out to the air filter. It's like Problem 2 but happens all the time, not just at the transition point.
