AlexJames
.... why when I pull to a stop do I get a little smoke/steam coming from the engine? I admit I don't know much about 2stroke engines to be able to think about it... all oils and water is topped up nicely...

JamieP
From the exhaust? 2 strokes have oil mixed with the fuel so all smoke.
AlexJames
yeah it could be exhaust gaskets... I haven't had the time to take the faring off yet to have a look to see if smoke is coming from the manifold, but theres no smoke from the tail pipe... AlexJames
Can anyone else tell me also... do you add the 2 stroke mixer oil into the same tank as the oil tank?
Dozymare
If it hasn't changed in the last 10 years you add it to the fuel tank...

Don't worry about it, that's just the little 2 strokes way of announcing its awesomeness. Revel in it and soak in the aroma at every stop, it's good for you, puts hairs on your chest. pedrosixfour
The oil in the petrol tank is usually reserved for the off-road bikes. Road going two strokes almost always have a 2 stroke oil tank which you keep filled and the bike itself looks after the mixing end of things. pedrosixfour
What year is it? The new models have a Rotax engine!! Found this for earlier models: http://www.maxmoto.co.uk/aprilia_rs_125.shtml Under lubrication it certainly states a seperate oil tank. Taken from the 98 manual: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=106207&d=1267805002 Thats really helpful thanks!! So, inside that tank at the moment is red fluid that more looks like brake fluid... now this could be my inexperience of 2stoke engines, and I know that 2stroke oil is thinner than 4stroke... but is that right? Depends on the manufacturer of the oil, I've seen amber/red, Gold, Blueish, greenish - and yes, it's usually a lower viscosity than regular ol' oil. Dnk
Probably the best idea would be pop into your nearest motorbike shop, theres shed loads of 2 stroke pre mix oils so make sure you get the right one, or find out who sells Aprillas and call them

pedrosixfour
Yeah, be very careful about what you put in the bike oil-wise. Those engines are running on the very limit of whats possible with any semblence of reliability, so treat it well with whatever is recommended or a proper race spec two stroke oil.
