JS2004
Hola, Bought some el-glo type of dials and have one or two questions that I think I know the answers to, but would like to double check. Current dials and speedo is in KpH along with odo. New dials are MpH, the numbers line up from what I can tell in exactly the same position as the KpH ones. If I install MpH dials I should just ignore the MpH as it will still read in KpH - I cant get in trouble for this can I ? (I saw a thread on here about a chap who failed MOT for KpH dials, twice) Next thing would be about the Thor converter. Im assuming it does what it says on the tin, when installed if the speedo reads 20 it will be 20MpH - can any decent auto electrician install these or would I be best off getting it to a specialist of some kind? People have mentioned to set it to setting number 8 - still reading up on that bit. I basically want to avoid any error codes / issues from installing a gadget and have the end result of MpH dials that actually read MpH. Forgot to mention its an N/A if this makes a difference Edited March 2, 2010 by JS2004 (see edit history)
lee_b
i just brought a 180mph clock and swapped that with my KPH clock, the odometer still reads in KM but my speedo is in mph now
pistonbroke
Thats not right I'm afraid. Unless you've put a convertor in it, it'll still be in km/h. To get away with just changing the dial, you'd need a speedo that stops at around 112mph (my FTO had one)
