Guest CoximusPrime
Hi guys, Very new to the site, so apologies if this has been asked before, but I can't find it in the forum. My ideal car has always been a twin turbo areotop supra with manual 6 speed gear box .... I'm struggling to find a twin turbo areotop for sensible money, but there's loads on pistonheads for about £3500 .... So I was wondering if anyone could tell me how much is involved in performing an engine and gearbox swap of an SZ-R areotop, and how easy is it to source the parts needed?? .... I'm really hoping someone tells me that it's too much work and to stop dreaming, as the obsession is starting to take hold of me Performing the work shouldn't be an issue as I'm surrounded by mechanic & engineer friends/family members who would like to help take on the project, but I'd just like some idea of how much of the areotop setup I could keep, and what I'd need to change .... any info welcome Cheers guys

Terminator
All factory areo's are automatic. If you have access to mechanic family and friends it wont be too difficult or long job. The Auto engine ECU should still be fine, you just have to remove or tie up all but the reverse switch and speed sender plugs. Peddle box to fit as well as clutch master cylinder.Toyota even sell a6 speed tunnels roof that can be welded on the tunnel to enable the use of all the right fitting positions. You also need a new/replacement panel for the 6 speed gear stick.
nevins
I was going to state the obvious but will refrain.

The 6speed gearbox will set you back a couple of K second hand, and then you're after a TT engine, with unknown history to throw in the chassis, so if I were you I'd really think about what sensible is. Terminator
Opps did not spot the obvious (it was is an NA), so you need an engine as well.

Precisely because the gearbox is about 2K you won't find a "cheap" TT6 to use as a donor. Mike
