Which is why I asked, as that seems extreme to me. To me as long as we don't buy the "Chicken Korma with Rice" - [Microwave on full power for 3min] things then we're doing OK. I'm not trying to do anything special with my body except lose a stone (which I need exercise more than a change of diet for). We see ourselves as cooking food now albeit using sauce jars and stuff, but at least it's not what we would call ready meals/TV dinners.

 

Definitely a step in the right direction dude. :thumbs:

 

I suppose some people might call it extreme, but I think it's extreme to shove cakes into one's face! :)

 

My current routine is to lose fat...

 

I wake up at 6.30am, do weights and cardio in the gym, come back and have:

 

3 eggs (1 yolk) fried or scambled

1 slice of granary bread

1 pint of milk with whey protein

 

That's my breakfast! Whilst I have that, I usually make a tea and some marmite and toast for my little lady.

 

Lunch is just a home made sandwich; granary bread with a meat of the week from the deli, and some lettuce, then dinner as above.

 

I essentially have weekends off though, and eat everything from lindt and haribo to curries and kebabs :)

May I ask why you are having milk with your whey?

 

You are better suited having whey with water and consuming within 20 minutes of your workout. This is when your body needs it most.

 

I do have it within 20-30 minutes of the workout - including my breakfast of eggs. The gym is close by and I cycle.

 

I have milk with it because it tastes better, and I like milk :)

Yes if trying to lose weight, no if bulking(milk). There is loads of thoughts on this 20min rule after training, i tend to neck my shake right after it, but iv been experimenting with sipping protein over a period of an hour. And TBH iv not noticed any difference, our bodies react differently, so what works for one might not work for another.

 

Im sipping still, as when the hour is up, iv made my main meal at night, so its works out pretty well. :D

I still wouldnt have milk on a bulk though. There is no use for it.

 

As adults, there is no need for milk in our diets.

 

As Arnie said.. "Milk is for babies".. :D

I always thought that milk was a good source of calcium and therefore good for bones etc?

The commercially pasterurized milk fails to satisfy the bodies calcium needs.

 

It satisfies my needs for a tasty milkshake after my workout :)

 

I tried it with water, and it's OK, but it's too awesome with milk. Milk has more protein that water as well, so :p

I thought so too. I don't drink it either though.

 

My diet is a bodybuilding diet without bulking.

 

Morning - 8am

 

2 table spoons of flaxseeds

Cup of oats

Cup of Spinach

Cup of Strawberries/Cranberries and blueberries

1 Kiwi if I have any

With water

 

Blended - 2 pints of the above

 

That keeps me full at about 12.

 

Lunch at 12pm

Pre-prepared from night before.

Rice or potatoes with a meat dish (should be brown rice but I am too lazy and dislike the taste)

With tea and cod liver & fish oil

 

3-4pm snack

If still hungry, a high protein snack - meat/tuna sandwich or something

 

6pm - dinner, another potato dish with meat

 

If I have time I make another smoothie full of oats and spinach and fruit (1.5 to 2 pints).

 

8-9pm A protein snack/shake. No carbs.

 

 

ZMA tablets before bed at 11:30pm.

 

 

Sounds hardcore but it really isnt.

 

And much much cheaper than buying food from the work cafeteria and tesco, which is what I used to do.

At the end of the day, it's your bulk and if you like doing it that way then thats cool. Its just not something I would advise my clients to do so wanted to point it out. ;)

I too have read up on it; I know I am adding protein to a protein shake, but I don't take my gym or diet too seriously.

 

Hence just having a huge piece of carrot cake just now!

 

TBH I just want to be healthy. I'm not doing any competitions or anything.

 

Cutting out all sweets and chocolate would probably do me more good than cutting out the milk, but it won't stop me :)

I used to have milk with protein shakes to be honest. I just stopped as it tasted better with water and fruits and your body will thank you a lot more for the fruit than for the milk. You'll notice the difference after 2-3 weeks in your skin and hair.

 

And if you get frozen fruit from the supermarket it'll taste like a very pricey cocktail treat (Which is what I do). And not only that, frozen fruit is very cheap indeed and you have no fear of it going off if you don't eat it fast enough.

Only want to say that you would be better off replacing your protein shake in the evening with some good fats.

 

A small handful of almonds or a spoon of natural peanut butter would be more beneficial.

 

Leave the protein shakes for just after your workout.

Might give that a try - peanut butter in the evening sounds very appealing indeed :)

 

Only issue is what to have it with - don't like having carbs after 8, and only thing I am thinking is brown bread :(

On it's own...

 

I like sitting nibbling on a teaspoon full of peanut butter..

 

make sure it's natural peanut butter though and not Sunpak..

 

Whole Earth do a natural crunchy peanut butter and it is luverly...

I have both coincidentally and I way prefer sunpat :(
