Google Nexus One phone

You can still only get one on-line through the Google website as far as I'm aware, so they won't be able to just go buy one from a shop over there.

Very good phones from all accounts, I'm a fan of the Android OS. The HTC Desire is released over here soon which will essentially be the same phone without the Google branding.

Consider the OS, not just the handset you're buying.

And yes you can either import from Google direct, wait for them to sell direct in the UK or get it there or play/ebay.com

The Android OS... I'm not so sure about. Yes it's a nice OS, it works, but I'm just wondering what Google are going to do about it

Guess I think about the bigger long term picture, if you're just after a phone for the next 18 months and then throw it away and get a different phone/OS after that, then yeah, it's possibly an alright choice.

I see what you did here... :D

In some ways I just want to go back to having something like an 8210, it was small, reasonably well built and did the job it wanted to do.

I swear the iphone, crackberries and all these smartphones are causing us to get a mild form of ADHD :(

I always wanted an 8210... just couldn't justify the price! Then they brought out all kinds of special edition ones for even more money!

Getting nerdy I think you're thinking of the 8810 :)

Bought one back when I was a fool with more money than sense (still don't have much sense now) and got through two in a year with HW faults. Went back to an 8210 :)

I used to have this. I have had too many Nokia phones.. 8880, 9110, 9210, 7210, 7110, 8146, 8110, 8210 (lovely little phone), 3330, 3310, 3210, 8910, 8910i, 6210, 6310....

I used to love them back then. These days I don't really like Nokias, nor the form factors of most handsets.

Isn't it nigh on impossible to read the Google phone screen in daylight?

It was criticised for being poor to read on the Gadget Show, I've not seen any other reviews mentioning it. I've not actually seen one but other HTC phones seem OK. I don't think it's an AMOLED screen like the Galaxy though, and they're supposed to be better.

Gizmodo and Engadget have rubbished the screen.

I'm sorely tempted to wait for a new gen iphone but the HTC Legend and Desire might be too much of a distraction.

See another person who loved the 8210 Nokia.

If they brought out a new version of that basically, stuck with the same dimensions, just phone + text + basic calender, simple screen and just better battery tech that'd be a great little phone and I'd buy one for sure. Always nice to have an extra phone I can put my sim in when going to gigs/festivals etc.

Wonder if enough people emailed Nokia they'd pay attention. Just a nice simple phone that does exactly what a phone should do. Less things to go wrong then too.
