Think about the film Brave Heart, who joined sides to fight the English lol. Its always been the same for some reason. May have something to do with heritage and that the 3 in question are celtic. :search:

If you look at Great Britain as a whole Scotland, Ireland and Wales almost don't exist as everything of any major significance happens in England and the South.

They may have the feeling they get overlooked, forgotten about and aren't treated equal but I think it's more to do with population density than anything else.

For me, it's 'your' press, whenever there's the slightest sniff of an England qualification and an impending big tournament the media hype in the papers and on tv gets a bit sickening. I love my football, but if England were playing Brazil at the same time as NI, the ROI or Wales (not so much Scotland, they're hard to watch! :) ) were playing just about anyone else and I'd turn over to watch that. It's a real shame too, the premiership is the very best league in the world and Rooney's currently the best player on the planet (that's hard to admit as a Liverpool fan) but the crap from the media that comes along with it sort of ruins it for me.

Good post by jim that pretty much sums up my feelings too.

If you want to know why outsiders rarely support the England Rugby team I could probably narrow it down to two words - John Inverdale. What a pompous, biased, smug twat that man is!

I agree as well, and I'm English born-and-bred. This seems to happen for football especially, to the extent that I often hope England's opposition win. I'd get behind the team if they were doing well in the latter stages of the World Cup, but otherwise I kind of revel in the reaction of the press (and the moronic element within the fans) when they lose.
