terribleturner
Great stuff. That bloke was actually the second place i tried and both after vat etc came out to about £700. Including hireing the airfield meant we Had to have 100+ cars paying £10 to recouperate the majority of the costs. I don't mind spending a little out of my own pocket to make it a good day, but that was gonna be way too much.
SteveR
stuff that, we'll make something for a few quid and it'll do just as good a job. I'll draft a spec for the system and have a chat with you soon.
SteveR
Think I've sussed the workings of the software out, just need to actually code it and make it control some hardware, too. I'll start of by developing what you'd asked for J, with the intention of it being able to run suitible lights & sensors etc too. Had a thought last night too - if we use some of those super-bright LEDs (perhaps in a housing light traffic lights are, so you can see them easily) the whole think might actually run off a ciggie lighter socket/a spare car battery - truely portable! I intend to do a fair bit of development work on this over the weekend.
terribleturner
I'm well impressed Steve, and excited at the same time. Good luck with it all and just shout if you need anything. It's also a weight off my shoulders so i can look into everything else. Thanks again
SteveR
No worries mate, I'm quite excited about it too. I'll make what you what you have asked for to start with (a bit of dual-lane timing software that will work on a PC/Lapdog, - with a few extras I have in mind thrown in), but _hopefully_ be able to sort out something a bit extra - proper sensors and control software for the xmas lights/traffic lights/whatever, full timing etc for several lanes... give me a bit of time and I'll see what I can come up with, but just in case don't count on anything more than the basic timing stuff being ready within a month or two.
