Guest mcphil199
Had a bit of squeaking coming from the drivers rear over the past few days....... so as id nothing better to do, thought id get my hands dirty this morning and have a wee look see what's going on! So we found a cracked brake disc and some new pads are well over due. Had a wee price about and got a second hand rear disc for £30 quid, any ideas what a new one might be (jap spec) also as this is my first time buying pads, any ideas on what and where to buy them?? Cheers guys! Edited February 26, 2010 by JustGav Added some 'g's (see edit history)

Scooter
So we found a cracked break disc and some new pads are well over due. because of the the crack disk, I'd check the caliper piston moves back in freely and also where the x2 14mm bolts you had to undo mount, check the bits left on the bracket (a nut and rubber boot) move in and out freely............as you lush you should feel them push back and on releasing they should spring back......if they don't move at all then you'll ruin any brake you put back on Compare the wear on the two pads on the side you took off as a seized caliper slider can cause one pad to wear faster than the other......... But then again maybe you’re on a "break" and have nothing better to be at?? Cheers Scooter, ill have a nosey at it now and see what the craic is with it. Thanks!! jim
lol If it's an n/a and just for normal road use then your local motor factors will have pads, I'm not sure where you are but I've got mine from Colin Adams in N'ards in the past. C Hurst Toyota on the Boucher Road will also be able to get them for you but you need to phone first in case they're not on the shelf. If your calipers have seized, don't bother buying second hand ones as it's a false economy. A refurb kit was £60ish with discount from Steve Manley (do a search for him on the forum) and will have them working good as new again. If you're feeling flush then UK brakes would be the way to go. Chiefgroover
When fitting pads I suggest you copper grease the back of the pad and shim, along with any points that touch position springs. Yes- he is a keyboard warrior with no Supra
