Supranature
I live in a fantastic postcode though. My insurance is under £400 with all mods declared etc etc etc. Whatever he is typing in is wrong. A quote won't go from £6k to £1k on anything other than the car. I think everyone would agree that 1.2k to insure a MKIV Supra is just impossible. Seems hes input a Mk3 reg?
Abz
Hello & Welcome to the club. industry - clerical place u live in dramaticly effects it aswell, when i moved house my premium when from 1360, to over 1580. was nuts I am 25 with 7 years NCB & mine is £980, so not sure you would be saving that much because you live in the highlands? The insurance on the EP3 won't be the same as the Supra, the EP3 Type R is IG 16\17 and the 4 DR diesels started at IG 9. The Supra is insurance group 20, so you should see quite a difference in premiums so make sure you get the details right or it will void your insurance. Do you have any experience driving RWD cars? An are you going to buy the cheapest Supra you can find?
Airwolf
Hi Abz, no not the cheapest, ill concentrate on a few main things. Mileage has to fall between 30-70k. has to be turbo'd. and up to £6500. if those main things are ticked id view, and if its alll looking good there id buy. oh right, mk4 does seem a little high on insurance. i guess id have to stick to mk3. I did have a friends Mr2 for a while. so got good driving experience with rwd. been driving for over 2 years with no accidents/fines... so im hoping i can cope with the supra. Hello mate, good... the reason I asked is I've seen some really cheap examples about but if they are too good to be true then chances are they are cheap for a reason. Shop around, do some research (We have a buyers guide on the forum) & be patient, it does pay off. Depending which Rev model it is & if its the turbo MR2 then they can be tail happy like the Supra. Airwolf
yeah i agree abz. patience is a virtue. i need to sell this civic first before i can think of buying the supra. unless of course i get a exchange. wooops no not the mk3. that reg was a mk4. trying to get quotes no... with the same reg i used a while ago... and coming up completely different. and very expensive... im confused as hell. tiger saved all my details i used in previous quotes. hope it wasnt a software problem
Scott
You can't use the registration to get quotes on import cars. Sometimes the information is good but more often than not it isn't. It is best to select the model you want from the list, that will always give accurate quotes.

Scott
The car you have selected with the registration "G3 MNY" is a MKIII Supra bud. I just did a database check on it.

Neither do I, but it does explain the (to us) low insurance quote for a 19 yr old. Can you post a link, or tell us where you saw this reg? Airwolf
i used lots of different supras for my quotes. to check accuracy. i was averaging £1400 but occasionally fluxed to £2000 max. i used about 6 different reg's.
Scott
Don't use registrations. I typed in one a while back and it was an astra lol.

Airwolf
auto trader and ebay, this was going back to december/jan when i got these quotes. i received an email for every quote. but only saved one for an example. that was the "G" reg one. Richie1985
That G reg is a private plate and on the email from the insurance company it says the engine size is 3l, the mark 3 only came with a 2.5 twin turbo didn't it? Bit strange that the quotes then and now are so different. If your still thinking of the auto to manual conversion then it would work out a lot cheaper to get the auto, run around in it for a while till you have saved up a few grand and then sell it to get a TT6. Thats what I'd do in your situation. My plan is to get an n/a till funds permit me to sell it and then get a TT. I did think about converting an n/a or even na-t but from reading these pages and doing a bit of homework have found it to be a lot more cost effective to sell and buy again. Airwolf
getting £3000+ pretty insane compared to what i was getting for similar TT autos. but nearer the time of buying a supra ill spend a day or 2 phoning a few insurance providers. im confident i can get it down.
