j1mb0b1
Hi, Just got myself a Ford courier van, But it seems a little sluggish it's a 1.8 TD on a 2000 X reg. I cannot feel an extra push when putting my foot down, I'am thinking maybe turbo is not putting an appearance in. What would be the best and most easy way to check if its working? Could I just connect a boost guage to it ? Where would I connect this ? How would I know what psi it should be kicking out anyway lol ? Thanks jim. dr_jekyll
ask someone to hold the revs up and stick your finger in, if can still pick your nose after its not working. you can plumb the boost guage from a vacume hose after the throttle body. as for the boost. ??? SupraD06
Dont know about being sluggish ( might just be due to being a small diesel engine ) but ive just bought a new Ford Transit van, which is the 2.2TD and to be honest you dont realy feel when the turbo kicks in, its only a small turbo anyway and it just pulls fairly smooth rather than a big pull of power like a turbo charged car. RobSheffield
I had a connect with a 1.8 TDCI in it, it wasnt exactly a kick at all.
RedM
Simply drive down the motorway and pull out in front of someone or tailgate them. It won't prove that your turbo is working but you'll be driving like every other van owner.

Stonkin
ive got a t200 transit connect, 1.8td Trust me there is no kick anywhere in the rev range with it It is however quite a nice van to drive, good driving position, and anyone that ever drives it always comments how impressed they were. far
dude if you are hopping out of your TT6 and driving a 1.8td you will not feel ANY kick at all. You might be able to hear the turbo spooling though, IME that noise varies from van to van
