SupraStar 3000
Firstly, I apologize for yet another thread related to my Supra and Works wheels but to be rather honest, I'm quite excited at the prospect of getting some nice rims. Found a contact over in the US that can get me these lovelys for a very reasonable price and very helpful so really tempted. Just need some advice on sizing. Can anyone shed some light on the following sizes. 19x9.5 +24 19x11.0 +29 is about 10 .. 12 mm over the stock setup Any potential problems? and now for some car porn! Nic
Just need some advice on sizing. Can anyone shed some light on the following sizes. 19x9.5 +24 19x11.0 +29 is about 10 .. 12 mm over the stock setup Those widths and low offsets won't fit under the stock wheel arches. As a comparison Stock Wheels Front 17x8 +50 Rear 17x9.5 +50 Proposed Wheels Front 19x9.5 +24 - They will stick out an extra 45mm Rear 19x11.0 +29 - They will stick out an extra 40mm Any potential problems? Poor handling Wheel bearing issues. People thinking you're a pimp Edited February 23, 2010 by Nic (see edit history)
miko_supra
Nice wheels them. Another pic here I found http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/5962/16tx7.jpg

The offset is from the centre of the wheel width, so it's half the difference in the wheel widths, plus the difference in the offsets. I cheated though and used the trusty Offset Calculator

SupraStar 3000
excellent Nic. Now i understand the maths! I'll see what sizes I can adjust and compromise on. thanks for your help.
pistonbroke
Use this http://www.morfed.net/wheel-offset-calculator/ Put the stock rim in, then your new ones. It'll tell you the inner and outer difference. And nic is correct as per usual

EdMorris
They do look rather tasty. I suppose the age old compromise of sexy looks versus good handling applies. Is the handling really that awful if you put 19's on?

No, the white one, if you get the same offsets he got then ya covered with just some stretched tyres and arch rolling.

Is the handling really that awful if you put 19's on? I'd imagine 19's on stock suspension would be a tad questionable. But if you slap some decent coilvers on to compensate for the increased rolling radius, and get the geo sorted they're not an issue. I never had my 19s on stock suspension so can't comment, though my 19's with the mods mentioned have no ill effect on handling as far as I'm concerned. colsoop
Think long and hard about those wheels Ed. Although they do look really nice, think about the practicalities of living with them day in day out. We don't have the climate for chrome wheels, i think fairly quickly they would tarnish !
