Hi All,

Last weekend i was looking after the step son and short of sitting on the xbox all day we had not a lot to do. So a quick google later i discovered how to make paper mache glue out of water and flour, then cut up the weeks news papers. 6 Hours, half a 2litre bottle of coke, some sticky tape and cardboard later we had a very cool space shuttle. Im gutted i did not take any pictures of it he did really well. Anyway im looking after him again on Saturday and i have loads of glue left and i want to see if we can make a paper mache supra.

Problem is i need to get the basic shape in something firmer right first, does anybody have any idea's on how i could getting this basic shape out of normal house hold stuff.

Sorry i know it well off topic but i'm stuck on this bit.

Many thanks for any help.

Papier mache helmets and masks are good fun too for kids.

Blow up a balloon to the approx size of his / your head, then form the desired shape in papier mache over the baloon. Add horns, ears or whatever, let dry than pop the balloon. Then paint as required with poster paint. Edit...forgot about the nose...plasticine on the balloon for a nose before the mache.

In the past I've done monster masks, viking helmets, even a complete suit of armour complete with sword and shield all in papier mache. Same basic idea for the armour, just clingfilm or plastic over the arms and chest etc. Shield was done using a cardboard former, as was the sword.

:) Cant wait for grandkids.
