bigbloodyturbo
I always wanted to try it as I never get a close shave with Mach3's or quattro's without getting irritation, I was going to go with an open razor but I've never got round to buying the kit. Through my googling though I found that the shave cream/gel that you use plays a pretty big part in how the razor performs aswell. I found a UK website that sold all the kit and had loads of info but can't remember the name of it:rolleyes:

I found a UK website that sold all the kit and had loads of info but can't remember the name of it:rolleyes: The main reason I posted on here was to find out if it was worth all the hassle. The more I read about the straight razors the more work I found out was involved. I gave it a go today and only got 1 cut, it was a cracker though lol. I recommend giving the disposable ones a go, to see if you fancy it. I'm going to try them for a month and if I still do I'll buy the kit. You are right though, what you use shaving cream wise is very important. It seems foamy soap stuff is the popular option. I haven't gotten that far though. Blade Mop Mop Paste Hone Hone Oil Shaving Soap/Foam/Cream Is the list so far. Looking at it, the Mach 111 might turn out to be the easier lazy option. AndrewOW
Is the list so far. Looking at it, the Mach 111 might turn out to be the easier lazy option. Ah, the great Mach 111. I have one of those new fancy Mach 1Vs they are all talking about. Or is it Mach IV? I can never remember! Anyway, I shave in the shower, as it's warm and moist enough to soften the hairs, then using a damp flannel, Nivea Sensitive Gel, and the vibrating Gillette (which does help), for a great shave. And as I only shave 2/3 times a week (cos I is lazy too), it's just great. I just hope you don't come on here one day complaining that you accidentally, brutally, cut your own head off while shaving, because we just won't stand for that! edge
I had a cut throat in turkey last year and found i got a closer shave with my normal razor. But the cut throat did not leave my skin feeling sensitive after. But im not sure if he was going easy on me as i was just a tourist. The most interesting bit was when he covered a cotton but in alcohol, set fire to and flicked it in my ears then the same to my nose. Did you notice a big improvement over the normal razor? Would take a fair bit of hacking with the 1mm safety blade.

I've only used it to shave once. After looking around it turns out you are meant to shave 2-3 times for each shave. In other words, lather... shave.. lather... shave etc. First time I went with the growth and it came out the same as a normal razor. 2nd time I went against the growth, sliced myself and it came out way way way closer. I literally can't feel anything on most parts of my face (due to lack of practice some bits I can feel, especially my chin ) I think it will be fantastic to have the real thing. The question is whether it is less hassle than a shaver, and will be used often, or more hassle than a normal shaver and only used for the occasional treat. I shaved once much faster than I would with a normal razor. The question is whether or not having to do it 2-3 times will work out less time with practice. Abz
My friend is a barber & has his own shop (his from Yemen, where they all shave using this method) where I've had quite a few cut throat shaving experiences. The shaving is much better than me using any type of razor, much closer & much more smoother! When I have my shave done in his shop it lasts a lot longer than when I shave myself. When I was a young one, I used to regularly shave every week at his shop, sometimes doing a beard trim\design. I've asked him to get me a cut throat, but he says to do it yourself it is so much harder. Though apparently their are classes to teach you how to do this, might be worth looking it up. I would say it is a much better, closer shave but more harder to do yourself.
Scott
Yeah I would agree with that. The angles you need to have your hand at to shave yourself are awkward to say the least, hence why I sliced my face lol. Practice should make perfect though, I've watched a couple of videos for the technique

adnanshah247
i use a braun shaver, it doesnt leave the irritation of blades and keeps your skin healthy and your beard soft. you dont get the thick stuble due to scrapping blades on your face. stops the green effect building on your skin as well after shaving. Guest Andy_H
I use an electric razor every day is it gives a nice shave and is very quick and easy, I have a new philips shaver. However I do go for a proper cut throat when I get a hair cut and its amazing, so so smooth but it does take them about half an hour and the use loads of balm and hot towels etc, its a very nice experience But not one I would do myself

Scott
Think he means bluebeard CJ As for the braun shaver, it might not irritate your face but it would mine. Also, I only shave once maybe twice a week, this just wouldn't work with an electric one.
