Suprab1
Fair play to this pilot. http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=tE_5eiYn0D0#t=
AndrewOW
Fascinating stuff! I was amazed how calm the pilot and crew were during that. I can't remember if the landing was heavier than that, but very impressive control.

SupraStar 3000
Notice how he immediately lined up the aircraft with the hudson river. He knew straight away that he needed to ditch the aircraft. had he listened to AirControl and tried for the runday that would have been a major accident. Great skill - The guy's a hero. MrRalphMan
I guess we can say that's what they are trained for, but you never know how you're going to react until it happens. To remain calm while that all happens, amazing.
AndrewOW
That's all well and good, but he could've landed it a tad closer to shore, couldn't he? I mean, everyone's going to get wet out there!
SupraStar 3000
thats true Andy. What a complete tosser. Just a few yards away is a jetty. Couldn't he have parked his jet by the jetty. Makes sense to me.

Maybe he shouldn't be trying to copy our seafaring cousins, then this kind of thing wouldn't happen!
Thorin
Does crashing a plane really take that much skill?
michael
Does crashing a plane really take that much skill? I think it's the good crash / bad crash thing, much like the AIDS.
