its something that still crosses my mind (the car falling on me) when under a car with axel stands and a wheel under the sills. ive even been known to keep the mobile in reach so i could call for help if i survived the initial crush :)

I had the same feeling the first time I went under the MIKIV. Don’t know why, I have crawled around under my own cars for years using axel stands, without a second thought. When I jacked up the Supra I could really feel the jack working hard, I went out and bought some new stands as I did not trust my old ones. I guess its the thought of being crushed in to a 4 inch space that really get to me. Might be hard making that call :eek: I have got used to it now but still have the jack in contact with the car as well as the axel stands, especially when I am going at it with a four foot breaker bar.

Right then, just dug out polishing compound (two blocks of 'stuff') and here are the details;

RS Components,

Polishing Compound 800g-supercut 40---- Part 190-771

Polishing Compound 800g-Lustre------Part 190-793

Use the Supercut, then the Lustre, best results with a 'mop wheel' on a bench grinder as it softens the polish due to the speed/heat produced. Apply to the spinning mop then place part against mop.

Good luck, oh if RS don't supply then they do have a mail order set-up for the public called Electromail, this is available through the customer service number I believe and they use all the same info in the RS cataloges, same prices even!! Bit pointless really, why not let the public order from 'RS' ???

Paul

been down to rs this morning seen the big sign outside said rs trade so i never stopped. just went to B&Q bought a lot of sandpaper and a 150mm 430watt bench grinder with light.will have a look see if i can attatch these circular brushes to make job easier.

i started on the blitz alloy pipe that comes with the induction kit.got drill with wire brush attatchment on it to bring it clean then started sandpapering it.its comming up well but taking forever.just getting all smooth and pits out.

will have to get a table made for shed and get a bench vice and get this grinder set up too.maybe even get a networked internet in there too.might be going a bit far there.

thanks for part numbers will look into getting some orderd, we use them at work but we only get about 15% discount not much when there prices are dear to start with.

the power steering tank looks like steel so will get that chromed up along with a couple of other small bits.

back to the hard work

thanks again

Sorry, back to the axle stands again. I had my car up on four axle stands, (3 tonners) on the jacking points, trying to change the exhaust and I thought "F@*k this, I really don't like being under here" so I took it to a garage instead.

Sorry if we were all dissing you, but it's really dangerous.

that'll sort out the young and the beautiful.
