Thorin Posted February 22, 2010 Share Posted February 22, 2010 Was what I was greeted to this morning on getting in to work. It's true, it does, you can smell it from the other side of the car park. A kind of sweet oily smell, without even having the car up on a ramp and having a look I'm guessing a gearbox oil seal? How difficult is this to fix? Could any reputable garage sort it? adnanshah247 Posted February 22, 2010 Share Posted February 22, 2010 best to have the gearbox checked in this day and age. the getrags being as good as they are suffer from shody seals and you rather replace a few £'s worth of seals rather than £2500 for a replacement box. Terminator Posted February 22, 2010 Share Posted February 22, 2010 Gear box oil has a very distinctive nasty smell, try washing it out of your hair if you lay in some. I would have though you would get some drip on the drive if it is gear box oil. Wired a kipper to a mates exhaust, stunk like hell for weeks.
