Your car stinks!

Recommended Posts

Was what I was greeted to this morning on getting in to work. It's true, it does, you can smell it from the other side of the car park.

A kind of sweet oily smell, without even having the car up on a ramp and having a look I'm guessing a gearbox oil seal?

How difficult is this to fix? Could any reputable garage sort it?

Anyone of have numbers and rough idea of cost?

It was stood over the weekend and still smelt this morning.

Or roadkill. But I suppose that'd be a meaty smell.

Thorin I take it you haven't switched to an all cheese diet or such and people were definitely referring to the car? :D

My diet is mainly meat, and hasn't changed :p :D

i think he means in your radiator not the washer bottle

No coolant loss from the radiator.

Gear box oil has a very distinctive nasty smell, try washing it out of your hair if you lay in some. I would have though you would get some drip on the drive if it is gear box oil. Wired a kipper to a mates exhaust, stunk like hell for weeks.

Rear and gear selector shaft seals both can be done on a ramp.
