Racing time! (maybe)

Quick update from me for those who've thought about this sort of thing. To me it's a natural next step from track days...

I did my ADRS test (National B class race licence) the other week and yesterday bought all the mandatory gear to go racing with - even buying realtively low-cost stuff my wallet is going to be stinging for a while!

Just got to sort the MR2 I bought late last year and I'll be competing: hopefully in a series that starts at the end of March! :)

Nice one Steve, when and where would you compete?

My best mate and I are hoping to enter the 'Trackday Trophy' as a team (it's a new series being run by club MSV and they insist on a driver change mid race to try and keep costs down). THe tracks will include Brands Hatch (Indy) and Snetterton, not sure what else they will chose but it'll be 4~5 rounds spread over the season. :)

We have an NA UK Spec. I forget the power but everything feels stationary compared to the Supra: it's not really a concern as we're in it for the experience and the race series is broekn up into classes based on power/ton anyway. :)

NA UK Spec? :search:

Whats one of those, a UK spec with blown turbos? :D

I looked into this, seems interesting, I only received my ARDS pack last week.

I already have all the gear as it was required for Time Attack, not cheap is it :D

Split between two the car & entry costs are halved, but we're still looing at £800 each for the clothing/helmet (got that about a month ago), £300 for a seat, £200 say for a harness, £700 for a cage, plus fitting, £300 ish for extinguishers, £100 maybe for a basic kill switch setup if that will suffice... then you can enter!

Oh yeah plus £55 for the 'Go Racing' pack, £250 for the test itself (which is easy as pie) then another £50 for the license.

We missed the first race but should be ready in plenty of time for the next. We migh be tracking the car this Saturday at Beford, but at the moment it's just a stripped out road car. :)

The other weekend we stripped the interior (passenger compartment and both boot areas) and on Friday started deleting toys we didn't need and the accompanying [now] redundant bits of loom (central locking, stereo etc).

Bedford track day yesterday went well - we wanted to see if there were any problems with the car before spending any serious money

Next steps are race-prepping it: roll cage, extinguishers, etc.
