gurnam Posted February 21, 2010 Share Posted February 21, 2010 Just spent all day trying to install my turbo timer into my car and have finally given up. I took the gearstick panel off, the chrome surround around the dials off, the stereo surround panel off, the dials off, the panel underneath the steering wheel off, the top panel off & the dash panel on the far right off trying to locate the bloody OEM factory connector that my TT harness I bought off Fensport (Blitz dealers) is supposed to connect between in order for the timer to work but it's no where to be found at all! I've done loads of searching and there's no Supra specific install guide anywhere either so I've no idea where exactly this TT harness is supposed to connect. Does anyone whose already installed this successfully have an idea of where this is supposed to connect to at all?? Pic of the harness sold to me: As you can see I miserably failed to locate the connector where the is supposed to connect to. Before anyone mentions, I've already thoroughly checked the area close to the ignition barrel but didn't have any luck. Tried removing the steering cowling by undoing a few screws underneath but it still wouldn't come apart from the front. I cracked the front part of the cowling in the end accidentally by using a little too much force. Do I have the wrong harness or something?? Gaz6002 Posted February 22, 2010 Share Posted February 22, 2010 If it makes you feel any better, it's FAR healthier for you to cool the car down by driving it slowly, then turning it off as normal rather than using a turbo timer. gurnam Posted February 22, 2010 Author Share Posted February 22, 2010 That's exactly what I'm thinking about doing Gaz. The Supra just doesn't seem to be a turbo timer friendly car. I spoke to Blitz and had a bit of an argument with them trying to tell them that there's no plug located around the ignition barrel area and that I'm unable to get to the back of it and their reply was that I'm not looking hard enough and I need to take more panels off even though I've removed pretty much all of them so there's no dash at all apart from loads of wires sticking out of places. He then said it's sometimes located in the steering cowling which is impossible for me to open up without breaking it further. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You need to remove some of the ducting to get to the loom. It's quite straight forward. gurnam Posted February 22, 2010 Author Share Posted February 22, 2010 SORTED! Finally decided to fix the issue. I couldn't get the duct off (no screws that I could spot either) so I left it there and stuck my head behind it in the drivers footwell looking up into the loom and there it was! Turbo timer is now all wired in correctly and all the wiring is very tidy with the timer itself located on the bottom of the main dash so it's like a factory fit now I've now got the unresolved issue where the car unlocks itself after the timer has finished counting down and the engine cuts out but I've got in touch with a mobile auto electrician who is confident he can get my Toad AI606 alarm working with the timer. Also going to request a manual from Toad tomorrow so I can have a look through the different modes to see if they make any difference. Will keep this thread updated if I manage to fix it so other owners can benefit with a working turbo timer. Would have thought in 15 years my car has been around that no one has ever managed to fix this issue yet.
