Porky1978
Right, having trouble with my computer. Mcafee is set to update automatically and came up with an error, prompting me to re-install. Having uninstalled the software i went to the online store to re download my anti virus software (which is due for renewal in August 2010) only to get as far as downloading the setup file when it pops up with internet explorer can not display the web page!!!! Now i've not got a problem accessing or downloading anything else, just from the mcafee website. I have been on to their technical support line, gone through everything they can think of only to be told at the end of it that it 'must be some setting on your computer' !!! Been to J80LEO's to download the file from his computer (cheers fella ) but will still not connect to mcafee website to download the anti virus software. Any ideas guys and gals, i am completely stumped. Cheers in advance. Alex.

stevie_b
I would try clearing all cookies and temporary internet files, and try again. What version of IE are you using? Edit: beaten to it by the Small Shiny One!

The-Plethora
Might be worth checking the windows firewall settings in control panel, some other program may have put something in there.

Smallshinyant
check to see if you can access other anti-virus sites like microsoft security essential or trend anti virus. no need to download them if you dont want them, jsut check you can still get to them
Porky1978
Can get to trend but microsoft gives me the old cannot connect to server message. Beginning to think its my isp that needs to do something.
Porky1978
Ok, spent 20 minutes on the phone to virgin who told me that my internet is set up correctly. Been on a couple of forums to get an idea of what to do. Someone else had the same problem and asked me to go to the registry files and check a few things. Turns out the things i was checking for weren't actually there! Upgraded to Windows 7 and all is now well.

Porky1978
Will get rid of it when it expires in August mate. And Windows 7 didn't cost a penny, either. I have friends in high places

Porky1978
Still wouldn't have got rid of the virus that was on there though matey.
