CJ
My son has sent me a txt asking for advice on a problem he has with his P reg 1.1 Fiesta. His problems started after he did an emergency stop a week or so ago. Almost immediately after (although this may be a coincidence) the car started to miss and lose power. His text says: "The engine feels like it is going to cut out when idling. There is hardly any power whgen I put my fot down on the accelerator. The engine is missing when idling and the engine is shaking. The exhaust is also blowing. If I turn the lights on or anything electrical, the revs drop". I told him to check the plugs, leads and coil. He changed these but to no avail. My guess is that there is a bad earth - although I dont profess to be a mechanic. Any thoughts? pistonbroke
Check for vac pipes that may have popped off, including the two on the HUGE oil cap thing.
manny
Sounds like what happened to my XR2, turned out the vacuum hose attached to the brake servo had split.
Supraman
Had a similar problem with my classic mini. Turns out it was the fan belt was worn.

absz
does sound like vac pipes as mentioned before. but on a off chance and totally random guess, was proberly low on fuel, brakes were slammed on, all the crap floating in the fuel tank rushed into fuel lines blocking fuel filter. movistar
No seen it for years, but the brake sevo's used to leak/split at the joint(air leak)...disconnect the vac pipe to the sevo and block off with your thumb and see how it runs then....thats block off the pipe not the sevo. If not other probs could be d.i.s pack...plug lead, or just a simple plug gone down?
CJ
Thanks for your comments. I have now emailed Josh and told him to pass the ideas onto a mechanic for him to look at it.
