Guest jdwals
Hi All, Just an idle thought going through my head, in searching insurance databases on line, while it has the various model's listed - SR,RZ and GZ - it does not mention the aerotop option. In people's experience, does the aerotop come with an insurance loading or is it one of these things insurance companies computers can't deal with so they don't charge extra for it? Matt H
I have an aerotop mate. It didn't seem to make any difference with insurance, but then again mines not standard anyway. Insurance can be a lottery anyway, I don't think you'll find a problem just because it's an aero.
The Raven
Bell made me laugh this year when i tried to insure an aero top. After explaining what it was they agreed it was a OEM extra. That made no differance to how much i paid. If in doubt phone sky
Matt H
After explaining what it was they agreed it was a OEM extra. That's great, I can imagine the original saleman with the original customer... Customer: "I'd like that Hard top supra over there please" Salesman: "Excellent choice, Sir. As an optional extra on your hardtop, we can angle grind the roof off for you, if you'd like?"
Guest jdwals
Well, finally got around to following up this with my insurance co. "Do you insure SZ Supra aero tops" says I. "MMMmmmm - no reference to the SZ aero. We do have a GZ twin turbo aero listed - I'll check that for you". Some button tapping later. "Yes Sir, we don't have an SZ aero listed but we can quote you the same price for the GZ twin turbo aero as you are paying for your current SZ model"!!!!!!! Why are insurance companies so mad!!! I can get insured for the same price for the top of the range and far more powerful version of the Supra as the poorer and slower relation. Crazy, crazy stuff.... Top speed and acceleration is only a small part of the insurance premium calculation though. Your neighbourhood, car security fitted, availability of parts etc are important factors. Guest jdwals
True but part of the reason these cars have such a high rating is the speed factor and you would think that of the two cars side by side, the one most likely to step out and try to kill you, a bad thing with no roof on, would be the more expensive to insure! If it helps. All 2JZ-GTE Aerotop Supras are GZ All 2JZ-GE Aerotop Supras are SZ
jackso11
my insurance company gave a different quote for a GZ and an aerotop so I went with the cheapest
