CarlT67
Chasis condition is key, they like to rust. Look out for wet/damp carpets for signs of water leakage, and service history with the six speed engine, as they can be unreliable and very expensive to run. a98pmalcolm
I hear TVR's are very unreliable! But i dont know enough about them to judge! So i suspect the normal stuff like conncl said, and service history! They're just kit cars with a cool looking body!

movistar
LOL, So to round up They like to rust. They cost lots to fix The electrics are not very good. They leak like fuck. And cost around 20k Where do i get one! Well as most of the bits inside seem to be vauxhall, i would start there..Lol I think they missed off "Overheating" Too This recall is off honest johns web site... 31/8/2001: 846 Cerbreras and Tuscans built 16/12/1996 to 8/5/2001 recalled because build up of corrosion adjacent to front wheel bearing bore can cause the aluminium suspension upright to crack. Suspension uprights to be replaced with a new design where necessary and extra cover plate to be fitted to uprights showing no visible corrosion. look here http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/index.htm?md=419 show him this one http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/index.htm?md=
Rob_Mitchell
we weld the exhausts up all the time at work as the rear cans are not supported they just hang and break prob caused by vibrations, leak alot, engine mounts are common fault i have heard from some owners, service bills are mega money, seats fall apart too

deathmonkey
Chasis condition is key, they like to rust. Look out for wet/damp carpets for signs of water leakage, and service history with the six speed engine, as they can be unreliable and very expensive to run. Maybe that's why they are expensive, 6 speed engines... so is that like... I dunno... tap the accelerator and you get 10 mph... tap again 20... 30... 40... 50... 60...? Sorry, couldn't help myself, I'll get my coat.
jevansio
It's not a six speed engine, it's a speed six, Jurgen had one, ask him

Jurgen-Jm-Imports
i had one for over a year,,.. issues i had... FOULED PLUGS ONCE.. i got one with 24000 miles on rebuilt engine and did 6000 spirited miles.. chnage your oil every 3000. so my advice is get one thats been rebuilt and used properly not a one thats been hardly driven or low miles. i serviced mine myself, the use a little oil but are great fun.. the only thing is the handling at high speed is terrible so no high speed driving lol. 160 leptons plus.. i might of been lucky with mine but it was a nice car. scooby_doo_do
I had a cerbera - loved it when it worked. Although the first service cost me £2,200... After a year it started to have a few nogly issues.. like for example the windows wouldn't open, or the door button stopped working meaning it was a mare to get in to the car. When it rained it got wetter in the car, that it was outside. It then had a slight oil leak, when it went back to tvr they said do what most other tvr owners do - use some mastic. if that doesn't cure it then it's an engine out job. Again - i loved it. but it was more a toy than an everyday car. and the sound............hmmmmm
