Is Australia losing the plot on censorship?

As you might know Australia is notoriously difficult with it's classification of games... and now it looks like they're moving towards censoring their Internet usage.

Google and Yahoo have joined two Australian organisations calling for a "rethink" of the country's controversial internet filter plans.

The Australian government has announced proposals to introduce a mandatory filter which would block all RC (Refused Classification) content.

Are they becoming the new China?!

I thought they were a really liberal country and not unlike our dear blighty?

titles like clock work oranged were banned in Oz far later than over here. I would take all the censorship for the aussie life style though;)

Clockwork Orange ;) was withdrawn by Kubrick himself - not banned by any censorship. When it came out there was an instance of a gang in Manchester (I think) copying the boiler suit/top hat attire and being randomly aggressive.

Kubricks wife lifted the 'withdrawal' when he died.

Cracking film :)
