Air rifle with scopes and lamp

You can't publicly advertise an air weapon for sale by mail order. The whole rules on advertising air weapons full stop is a very grey area. Suffice it to say that if you post an air rifle via whatever courier you stand to get in a lot of trouble. If you are seen in public these days with anything resembling a rifle you'll be in the sh*t unless you live in the country. Air rifles are a great idea, bu tin practice somewhat of a waste of cash.

I live in the country and have some land but most people around here shoot anyway . There are quite a lot of Grouse and Pheasant / Partridge grown on for that purpose . Now if you were to walk around the city centre with an air rifle then that would obviously be frowned upon . It is an air rifle and as such , legal .:)

Sorry I came across a bit wrong there. My point is that you can't legally post a rifle it has to be collected only. You also can't advertise it as a postal item either thats why there are none on ebay anymore.

I have dealt in Airguns and for last 10 years and have posted numerous it is not an offence to do so. It is against the law for a dealer to sell a brand new air rifle via mail order as well as second hand ones as they have to sell face to face, nothing stopping you selling it to anyone when you walk out of the shop.

I have always sent via post using the usual post but make sure it is guaranteed and signed for if they ask its car parts.

To cover your back I would make sure you put on the advert sold to over 18`s.

Firearms and Shotguns are a different matter all have to be face to face or posted using a RFD to RFD there is now a company delivering all over the country on all weapons wish I had thought of it.

I use a Lightning for vermin control around farms and have numerous firearms and Shotguns for despatching other things.

If I were you go onto http://www.airgunbbs.com and see what these lads post.

Not 100% correct, A gun shop can still sell air rifles mail order, so long as they deliver to another gun shop for you to collect, same as sending shotguns/ firearms like you have said.

You would have to go to the shop and buy the gun as the dealer can not guarantee the age of the buyer. Thats why numerous gun shops have gone under due to new rules on the selling of airguns as mail order had to stop your not even allowed to buy a silencer from a gunshop unless you physicaly go to the shop, mail order was huge business.

RFD to RFD with a Shotgun or Firearms is different as you have a licence with all your details which your RFD needs.

When you buy a shotgun or firearms even ammo you must supply your permit everytime.

A private seller can post a non FAC air rifle to a private buyer.

Not all carriers will knowingly accept it though. Break it down to components or box it in a non-rifle shape box.

If in doubt, ring a local gun dealer and arrange to have it posted to him...he will also know the carriers that handle these.

He will only hand it over to you in person, on proof of age.
