JamieP
I just called uk customs (should have done in the first place) they said as long as the car is older than 6 months old and has done more than 6000 miles then no import tax to pay. Konrad
Ireland as far as i know is part of EU, same as UK, so there can't be any import tax on any product changing places and owners inside EU.

Guest jdwals
Try telling it to the Irish Govt who have this Vehicle Registration Tax in place - to register a Supra here in Ireland would cost me an additional €1,300 (about a thousand sterling) if I took it in from the UK. Shocking!

Shocking! You have the same problem there too do you? It matters not to the Greek government that i tell them I had already paid VAT / import duty in the UK (therefore the EU). They still make it extremely expensive to register a car over here.
Chris Wilson
There used to be a LOT of trouble with people importing Jap cars into Ireland and not paying VAT, then bringing over here, but that has been banged to rights.
JamieP
This car was in the uk for a while then took to Ireland, now coming back, im flying out tuesday to pick it up, would the fact that its never had road tax in Ireland be an issue? I wouldn't have thought so my friend. Providing the car gets an MOT and Tax here then the authorities should be happy enough.
Chris Wilson
No, just tax and test it over here.
