Guest George89
What jap cars are the best at handling for about a 5K budget or maybe more depends of car. I want to get a nice handling quite powerful around 300bhp car, preferbly 4WD. And it has to look half decent as well. I just wish i could turn a corner with my supra and not worry about the back sliding out
edge
A gt4 and change. evo? Or spend money on the supras suspension and have a full propper geo setup and very good tyres
HadeS
Impreza or Evo? I think this is the way, but cant tell which one to go with.
Guest George89
Yeah i got that same problem i was looking at the subarus as you get more for your money at that budjet. As with evos normally high milleage and the old evos don't look that good either. Any opinions on a Mitsubishi GTO?
Guest George89
GT4's did come across my mind then i learn it takes 8 hours to change a clutch on them. How much labour cost is that gona be! i profer a GT4's looks to evo or subaru. 3 door is what am after. and in a year or 2 will come back to supra 6 speed RZ-s
edge
Just be careful with gt4's. Alot of dogs out there and suspension parts are not cheap and get a hot compression test done as they like to drop ringlands on piston 3.
Guest George89
Yeah i done a bit of research on them, they say you need to change strut bars front rear. control arms. and a lot of handling parts as they go wrong over age. Too me it sounds like a car thats going to cost me a lot of money. I was interested in a GTO but am put of by its weight. Can it actually handle? He said it was very tail happy for 4wd. My girlfriend drives a evo 7 everyday, that'll go around any bend but you will be very lucky if you see 200 miles for a tank of petrol. Multics
R32 GTR you won't regret it
Suprab1
To be honest evo is better handler and faster but on everyday roads you won't be going hard enough to push a subaru passed its limits. I also would say subaru is cheaper to run, evo needs oil and AYC fluid changed every 4500 miles.
cobrastang
Then i guess am back to subaru or evo Or a very good very ugly nissan pulsar gtir.Very good if you can put up with the ugliness

Guest George89
R32 GTR you won't regret it Am not sure about a R32 but R33 GTR much better looking. But i have a massive soft spot for the R34 i can't afford the GTR but maybe the GTT? but obviously it aint going to handle like a 4WD

HadeS
Cant remember what does its mean but you are able to set up your differential as you like. FWD, RWD, 50%/50%. Drive as you want ;]

Suprab1
whats DCCD? i am looking at subarus imprenza STI around 1999-2001 mark There's some 2 door models (think type r) you can have the diff in rear wheel drive, i heard putting them in rwd alot can cause diff probs though. Gaz6002
The MX5 is the best handling Jap car
trinitom
integra dc2 have a great handling too, don't know about the dc5. IMO better than Supras. you don't have 300hp but 190hp from 1.8L is very good. great fun to drive.

Abz
I would have also suggested the EK9 Type R or a DC2, the Integra's are one of thee if not the best FWD cars. Though if your after much more power then I'd be looking at getting a Subaru/Evo. Though the EK or even the FN Type R's are cheaper to run/maintain than the Subaru/Evo's. Chris Wilson
RX-7 FD, no doubts. But it's RWD, and any powerful and light RWD car can bite. Sublime chassis, can be made better still, but also easy to make worse than stock....
