RobD Posted February 14, 2010 Share Posted February 14, 2010 I purchased my 52" LG LCD TV a year ago now, paid £1500 for the TV, stand and surround sound, went into Currys again the other day and looked at the LED ones, to which I thought fek, I wish I waited! pistonbroke Posted February 14, 2010 Share Posted February 14, 2010 Don't say I didn't warn you about the glare issue on the 55 lifted from the trustedreviews site "For it's a sad fact that on numerous occasions while playing games and especially watching films on the UE55B7020, my attention was caught - no, make that grabbed - by some really quite overt shoots of light coming in from each of the TV's corners. A particularly distracting example of this can be seen, for instance, at various moments throughout the black and white sequence at the start of Casino Royale, from the moment the MGM lion roars through to the credit sequence beginning. But it crops up again to a greater or lesser extent during any predominantly dark shot that happens to have bright elements within it. So disturbed was I by this issue that I actually sent the UE55B7020 back to Samsung for them to have a look at. They checked it, found a problem with the diffuser plate, and sent the TV back to me. Only for it to still show the same problem. Given that I didn't notice the same problem on the UE40B7020 or the larger 46in UE46B8000, I can only imagine that it's caused on the UE55B7020 by the extra light intensity needed to drive the LED lights across the back of such a large expanse of screen. My amp runs all the latest sound setups, dolby truHD, DTS MA etc etc. Yet all my blue ray films are only 5.1. 7.1 films are very hard to find. Everything I have read on the AV forums about LED TV's especially the samsung ones because of the software in them is not great and that you aren't getting anything other than a thinner TV and a gimmick? I am in the market for a new TV 32" no side speakers to fit in my TV cabinet and the LED does appeal but I'm not paying over the odds for an LCD with fancy lights round it. captainchaos Posted February 20, 2010 Author Share Posted February 20, 2010 got the TV this morning picture quality is amazing tested it on blu ray, ps3(bought alien vrs pred to do so lol) and sky cant complain about it at all, alot smoother compared to the plasma.
