Samsung LED TV

And the LED's are wafer thin... just well more expensive at the moment than an LCD or Plasma for the equivilent size but new technology always is. If you can afford one yes get one :)

I have a 44" Samsung LCD at present but I would be hesitant about paying 2k for a 55" LED.. Yes the picture quality is superb and its wafer thin but 1400 pounds more than a 50+ LCD , I would probably go 60" LG for 800 notes :)

L.E.D are by far the best tvs is your serious about gaming blu ray etc they are basically a lcd tv just instead of having some horrid backlights that fade with age and have poor response times they have rows of l.e.ds which can adjust to more colours and are more accurate for example with a plasma or lcd the backlight fades with time and they can never fully switch off so black on your screen looks grey i had this debate just after christmas whether to get a full hd plasma about 60inch or pay allot more and get a 50 inch l.e.d in the end i opted for the l.e.d and compared to my brothers 40 inch plasma which is full hd and about 2 months old the l.e.d is brighter sharper and has a much wider spectrum of colour.

so as with most things you get what you pay for if you just want a tv for tv and dvd then get a big plasma.

if you want something for your xbox etc buy a l.e.d

or if your really fussy hang on a couple of months for a o.l.e.d screen tv they will have everything that a l.e.d has but a slightly increased refresh rate.

hope that helps :)

o.l.e.d (organic light emitting diode)

I was looking at these too, after a bit of research i found that the Samsung range are edge lit which can leave the middle looking a bit dull sometimes, whereas the Sharp ones have LED's running all the way through them and so arguably give a better picture.......

If you're after the best buy a LEDrgb tele instead of the standard LED's which are LEDw, basically LEDw is white LED's, LEDrgb is red green blue which gives much much better picture.

LED's give a brighter sharper picture whereas plasma will give a warmer more natural picture, hence plasma's tending to be better for gaming, sports and movies.

Thats casue LG make most of screens for tv's. The samsung one may have been an LG screen with samsung looks :p

I was torn between an LG and a Samsung plasma just before Christmas. The spec of the two screens I was looking at was so similar I did wonder if they were in fact the same innards in a different box.

Anyway, I went for the LG and it went wrong after 20 hours use, so its about to be exchanged for a Panasonic.

 i was waiting for someone to say that

bobski has previously accused me of being a "grumpy old man" but he needs to realise that posts like that tend to get ignored because people cannot be bothered trying to put in the punctuation themselves and decipher what he was trying to say.

7.1 is the way to go if you want to utilise the full potential on the encoding of audio on Blu Ray discs. Dolby True HD Dolby Digital Plus and DTS HD Audio will only run 5.1 on most "all in the box" home surround systems. Going the standalone 7.1 amp route is the best way of getting the full 7.1 experiance

Richer Sounds are doing some affordable ones. A couple of years back you would pay 1k for a 7.1 amp with HDMI inputs. Come down alot since then.
