help needed folks, my rear right brake keeps ceasing, for the last few days my rear brake keeps ceasing sometimes its ok when I move off but after a few minutes I can hear a scraping noise, its def the rear right only (it was very hot where as the left was cold). My first thought was to grease the caliper via the grease nipple on the underside but I thought Id better ask on here first, I done a search and found this post but there was no solution, please help guys :(

Hi mate, this is very common on the smaller brakes used on the n/a and jap spec TTs.

I'm afraid they will probably need a refurb as the sliders are probably seized.

You can get a basic refurb kit from toyota for around £20 with new seals and rubbers. Stripping it down , giving it a good clean and putting news seals on it may work in the shorter term. I done this when I had j-spec brakes and they were still fine after 2 years.

However, if they are too bad then you may need new sliders or a new caliper. You could also get some second hand and give them a whirl.

I can only assume when you are saying grease nipple you are talking about the bleed nipple.

DO NOT TRY AND PUT GREASE THROUGH IT!

This is used to bleed BRAKE FLUID OUT!

Hope this helps. :)
