CraigGilchrist
As the title says, I have a Nintendo Wii for sale, which has been soft-modded so it can run homebrew, backups, etc. Setup to use Neogamma, so it can load games from discs, or an appropriately formatted SD card/USB drive, etc. Hardware wise, I have the Nintendo Wii (Wii Sports pack - not resort), which includes all cables, the Wii Remote, and nunchuck. It also has Wii Play (which includes another Wii Remote). Finally, I have bought another remote, two more nunchucks, and a Classic Controller. So, in total that's 3 remotes, 3 nunchucks and the classic controller. Everything is boxed and in full working condition. I'll even chuck in a few batteries to get started. Hoping for around the £140 mark, plus I figure £10 for postage and packaging unless someone's collecting it.

Scott
I'd say that's a pretty reasonable price considering the extra controllers. Have you given ebay a go? Remember to mention that the softmod doesn't effect the warranty or any repairs on the console

edge
the softmod doesn't effect the warranty or any repairs on the console You serious? not sure if that was a cheaky post but it does void warranty depending on what you do. The only thing you can do is run homebrew which alone will not let you play back up games. I softmodded my black wii and have a 500gb hdd with it and its the way forward. They are great fun and if anyone is in doubt what softmodding can do just google it. A good price for this wii and you will save hundreds in the future. A soft mod does not void your warranty as it is a software modification, a modification which can easily be overwritten by un-modified firmware. You can run backup's with homebrew programs. In summary, you're doing it wrong
edge
So if you brick your wii by mistake and send it back to nintendo and they check the IOS and find its been changed to allow playing of backup i dont they will be to happy to repair it. But you can run homebrew and make your own apps and even make your own games or play ones that other have made. quote - Installing the Homebrew Channel is not illegal, because the Homebrew Channel does not modify the firmware in such a way as to defeat the copyright protection built into said firmware. If you install a modchip, or a cIOS that allows you to play burned games or use USB loaders (such as Wanin's or Hermes), yes it is illegal. Even if you never burn a disc, modifying the firmware to allow circumventiion of the copyright protection built into it is a violation of the Digital Millenium Copyright Act. Seriously bud, you need to do more googling. You are way way way off. How would a fully working non-bricked wii with the homebrew channel on it invalidate the warranty? The homebrew channel is used to make changes to the firmware in order to allow playing of backups. The homebrew channel itself won't allow you to play backups direct but it gives the ability to be able to. At any time you wish you can revert back to the original firmware by upgrading the software via the update channel. This will take the wii completely back to standard without opening up the case. If it bricks, there are ways to unbrick thanks to some boot options that can be enabled and loaded via the SD card. Trust me, I know the Wii system inside and out. I have been doing this for YEARS. Anyway. To the op and any potential buyer. The warranty of the wii is still valid on a software modded wii console. Simply update the firmware before sending it back. edge
As i said in my previous post homebrew dont void the warranty. If something happens like a component failure (unlikely as wii's are very reliable) and dies with usb loaders, other ios changes then it will if you cant remove said unwanted software. I think you may have missunderstood me bud. The later wii's are harder to recover due to the bootmi not being able to start from the usual points. Another good reason to buy this one Whilst on the subjust have you heard any news of any d3-2 chipsets yet as mine the later?

CraigGilchrist
£80 is a bit low, but thanks for getting the ball rolling The soft-modding doesn't affect the warranty, as it can be removed with an update, but I do see your point that if something goes wrong with the HW that stops you updating the firmware you could be sending a Wii to Nintendo with the homebrew channel installed... Anyway, I haven't tried eBay yet because of their ridiculous 10% final value fees these days (i'm certain it used to be lower than that!). Also not sure about mentioning the soft-modding on there, as they probably have policies about these sort of things... But, it may end up having to go on eBay at this rate. probrox
Sorry to hi-jack, but how do you go about soft modding the Wii? I've had a google search but all I can find are sites saying I need a Zelda game. I only bought the wii last month, will this make any difference with newer firmware etc? CraigGilchrist
80quid and i'll collect Very generous of you , but even Gamestation are doing second hand Wii (just with the remote and a nunchuck, I think, not even Wii Sports, let alone additional controllers) for £99.99. Sorry to hi-jack, but how do you go about soft modding the Wii? I've had a google search but all I can find are sites saying I need a Zelda game. I only bought the wii last month, will this make any difference with newer firmware etc? Not too sure what it's like these days, but I first did it a long time ago and used the Zelda: Twilight Princess hack. Search for Homebrew Channel installation guides and you should probably find something; I'm sure it doesn't need Zelda any more to do it anymore...
