stevie_b
The family that had to awful crash due to the stuck throttle, Why not put your foot on the clutch? Or knock into N? There will always be drivers out there whose reaction to tricky situations is to close their eyes and shout "ooo, ooo, ooo". and the old technology keeps ploding on I remember when a friend of mine bought an Avensis when there first came out. It had to go back to the dealer to fix a fault on the digital fuel gauge. I've owned one or two less-than-robust cars, but never has the fuel gauge given me problems. Porky1978
using the cheapest parts Not quite correct. I work at the Toyota Burnaston plant in Derby and while i agree that price comes into it, i doubt any car company would solely agree to be supplied with parts on the basis of price alone. I work at the Toyota Burnaston plant in Derby and while i agree that price comes into it, i doubt any car company would solely agree to be supplied with parts on the basis of price alone. I am sure that every major component is made to Hondas specification but you can be certain that it will be supplied by the cheapest supplier or at a cost that Honda tell them. NOTHING in the main stream car market is over engineered these days, purely to keep the costs down.

I heard the police despatcher ask quite clearly whether the driver couldn't just switch the engine off. Right before the driver said they were just approaching the intersection... Bobbeh
We've had Toyota's the family for 25 years and the old boring ones were built the best. The Supra seems to be the last of the generation tbh. Similar thing with many Mercs.. the quality of the newer ones isn't great based on the failing of my colleagues motors. Suprab1
any idea year and models i have 2.4 04 accord Here's some info i found online, hope it helps. Japan's number two automaker, Honda, has also expanded a recall. There could be faulty airbag inflators on most models Honda offered back in 2001 and 2002. The Honda recall affects 2001 and 2002 Accords, Civics, Odysseys, CRV's and Pilots as well the 2002 Acura TL and CL. The faulty airbag inflators could produce too much pressure and risk rupturing their casings, sending shards toward the driver in an accident. JakeG
trning the igntion to off is another good way to stop a roaring engine with an open throttle Bad idea since most cars stearing would lock up while the car would stil be moving, my Williams Clio trottle stuck open one time and I just knocked her into neutral, seemed the best idea at the time anyway
stevie_b
Bad idea since most cars stearing would lock up while the car would stil be moving That's easily overcome. You turn off the engine, that then immediately put the key back to position 2 which unlocks the steering. It might not be obvious to an average punter who isn't into cars though. A better way might be to use the foot brake to scrub off as much speed as possible, then turn off the engine.

Jurgen-Jm-Imports
trning the igntion to off is another good way to stop a roaring engine with an open throttle the gtr is keyless, and the button is on the centre console easy accessible to passenger and am pretty sure you cant turn it off whilst in motion,.. or the passenger or kid can just cut you off - so am pretty sure this wont work.. which might make the NEW GTR dangerous..(i will look into this now)..
