Steve
Whats the best way of attaching mesh to the front bumper of the Supe?
merckx
Depends on whether you want to make it neat or not. Best to remove the bumper, I used hot glue and silicone. I put my mesh at the back of the bumper opening behind the edges, the mesh edges cannot be seen on mine. There isn't much space to conceal fixings but I'm going to do it even better next time. Steve
My bumper is off at the minute, in process of fitting FMIC. Thought could do it all at once. So hot glue would be fine then?? Thanks
terawua
I was retentive and made it so it was fixed in by the grille mounting holes make a template out of cardboard, then copy it for your mesh- Now, when I fixed the bumper back on, the mesh was fixed too as the plastic popper things passed through the bumper and the mesh- this means I can remove it at any time if I wish, for example if it gets dented or something. Also no requirement for glue... I also meshed the side intakes, and used the indicator bolt mountings to fix the mesh to there so it was removable also. I dont have a pic to post, but it looks very neat.
Steve
Slight problem with the little plastic popper things, kind of butchered them getting them out. Anyone know a part number??
terawua
yeah those plastic popper thingies can be a pain... mine came out with only minor scathing - I think I sacrificed two on the removal and refitting....
Steve
Think i may have one left, . Am not thinking off removing the mesh so may go with the glue option. Do i still need the popper thingys?
terawua
you need popper things to put the bumper back on, yes.....
Steve
Will start another thread and get a part number then. Thanks
SupraStar 3000
I made some metal fixing clips that run under the top plastic lip and allow you to fix the grill with standard cable ties. bottom works the same only the ties run through the orginal fixing holes. means I can remove the grill to clean without removing the bumper
