Wazz72
I had my car off the road for about a month, I started it last saturday drive it down the M3 for a while, and then left it running on the drive for about 2 hours. I took it out that night and after about 5 miles all the electrics died. I stopped the car turned off the ignition and tried to start it but it was completely dead. Tried to jump start it, as soon as i took the jump leads off the engine cut out. I called out the AA and he tried everything, but to no avail. He charged the battery from the van, and tested the alternator and there was no power coming from it. He couldnt tow the car because of the bumper and no access to the tow hitch, so I returned the following day to remove the bumper. I found a blown fuse, and the car turned over, so I managed to limp the car home. I have bought a new alternator from Keron, and am just looking at fitting it. I am fairly mechanically minded and have done the majority of the work on my car myself, (Veilside bumper, FMIC, Greddy e-01 BC, Air Filter, O2 sensor etc..) Im just wondering the easiest way to access the alternator, is it from above or below, and will I have to remove the front bumper? Thanks, Warren. David P
12mm? socket and bar on tensioner, take off fan belt, unplug alternator and undo 10mm nut holding wire on top, take out 2 mounting bolts, 14mm?, and it's out, reverse proceedure to install. 3 spanners, 3 nuts/bolts and half an hour. Chris Wilson
14 mm you score 3/
David P
Mine is running on a 10mm allen bolt. The difference between 12 and 14mm is a matter of 'brail' thesedays. Maybe I should get myself to Specsavers
