CardiffSupra
Got a sky+ box for Chrimbo but I keep having trouble with it. Sometimes when i turn the box on it tells me to unplug the sky+ box from the wall for 1min. I tryed to record the UFC last night only to find this morning It had recorded only one of the 4 programs I wanted. They were all on the same channel after each other, the 1st and 2nd Failed, The 3rd Recorded and the 4th Failed????? WTF is going on? I seems like it only wants to work when it feels like. ufop
when mine has done it, its normaly said power loss of signal loss (which only seems to happen when its raining really, really hard) have you done a signal test to make sure both the lnb's are ok and also done a system test on the box? just incase its something simple I guess you could take out the hard drive and format it too incase the drive is faulty. failing that maybe the box is faulty? I think you can also force the sky box to redownload the latest software update but I cant remember how to get it to do that off the top of my head. CardiffSupra
What message did u get when you pressed the "i" button on the failed program?? Dek. I did'nt know you could do this. I only have the one lnb coming in, I Think thats ok aslong as you keep on the same channle right?
ufop
yeah you can use it in single lnb mode, might need to go into your settings then to turn off the sky anytime but I think this will only record stuff sky tells it to if you have no other channels recording/watching at the time. did you upgrade from standard sky digital to sky+ or sky HD? as when I upgraded from sky digital to sky+ I needed to contact sky to get them to enable the recording functions on my viewing card.... which didnt happen the first time but second person really knew the box. Ahhhh Sky Anytime might be the problem. Yeah I have told sky about the Sky+ and I have set up the box with the card. The Sky Anytime could be the reason for the rondom recording fails. Will give it a try, Thanks matey.
ozz
I get this occasionally, I changed my single LNB and fitted a QUAD LND (only a tenner) yesterday and wired new feeds, much better picture and it hasn't dropped the signal yet. Mine was an ebay box too.
nevins
what make is the box as sky had a problem with the amstrad boxes, most people with this problem get them swapped out for thompson boxes. The amstrads had software faults, causing failed recordings, freezing and data loss (recordings being lost)
