pjavon
I'm about to fit one to my car, if i change the odometer to miles will it adjust so the mileage is correct (say 140,000 kph would then read about 86,000 miles) or does it just change to miles so the car would look like it done 140,000 miles. Thanks for any advice.
stevie_b
It won't change the reading at all. So if your odometer says 140000 (in km), when you convert it it will still say 140000. The difference is that from that point onwards, the numbers will count up in miles not kilometres. You can get the odometer converted so that it shows the mileage in miles (you give your odometer unit to them reading 140000, and they give it back reading 86000 with a certificate saying what's happened and why). Personally, I'd just leave it in kms. You can fit a Thor TSD+DSC without converting the odometer to count in miles. I have one, and it counts in kms still. One of my pet hates is odometers where the first x units is counted in kms, and subsequent distance is counted in miles. This will happen if you carry out the odometer conversion but don't have it converted as I've described above. IMO, it seems so half-arsed. I don't know of any companies that do it, although I'm sure they're out there. Edit: just re-read your post. I bguess you've already got the Thor unit fitted but want to convert the odo. I'd email Thor to ask them to send you a new set of instructions if you don't have the originals.
pjavon
Thanks Steve, i thought that was the case because you see cars with things like 100,000 in kilometers and so many in miles which equals whatever. I don't like that either so i'll leave the odo in kilometers. Easy enough to follow the instructions, basically just put the blue(1.1 output) to pin 5 on the back of the odometer instead of the white (5.8 output). Maybe if you changed yours steveo it would go back to kilometers if thats what you wanted. By the way any news on the El-Glo dials yet, thats why i'm fitting this now:d
