nick_karkie
So far I've had four Polish ladies and gentlemen living in my house. I'm still impressed with their manners and work ethic etc etc and I also thank them deeply for their money which they give me - on time, every time, no funny "...Sorry, I have not got rent this month..." business. It would be very wrong to put pictures of the girls up, but they are stunning. I don't think Mrs Lbm would be too happy either. Are they still single ? haha

grandiaerbest
Well i can not comment on how it is in the UK. But in the Faroe Islands we have very few immigrants, since we have very tough laws here. But we have a few poles and almost all of them are nice and friendly and as you guys point out very hardworking. but i find it annoying that they get paid less then other workers here. they do the same job but get paid less. and this creates a huge problem, because several companys here are now trying to get more and more poles to the faroes to work, and since this is a very small country, it annoys a lot of people because there are less and less jobs. And also in the Faroes we have almost no crime, and i mean no crime. but almost always when there is trouble it is the poles getting into a fight or the Russians, and since the Russians are not welcome in the faroes anymore as they tried to steal one of our best ships only two months ago. as i have said to my friends "fuck the Russians and offer the poles a beer" So do you have a problem with violence from immigrants in the UK? But i really like the poles, a great bunch of people, and i am glad we have poles and not Africans working here.
ozz
Unfortunatly there are a number of employers in the UK who employ Poles (predominently but other nationalities too) and employ them for cash at a much lower rate than UK inhabitants. This creates bad feeling amongst communities as also creates a large number of immigrant workers on very little money. A result of this will always be an increase in crime whether its stealing, no tax/insurance etc, from the immigrents and from the UK people who no longer have jobs. Its not any nations fault, its our government policy and lack of control. I think anyone should be allowed to live in the UK, if they contribute. The only difference is if he was British then you guys would join in having a moan about him........so shallow Makes me laugh that we get all the blanket praise of certain nationalities and then when highlighted that they are far from perfect (applies to all of us) as in this case then we get loads of irrelevant examples and the initial 'crook' and his actions are forgotton? Who gives a sh*t if someones Aunty worked with loads of nice Polish people etc, lucky she wasn't run down by this one

marbleapple
welcome to leeds, nice isn't it Re the Poles.... majority are hard working, nice people but there are exceptions just like any community. There are also a lot of Eastern Europeans and Iraqis in Leeds at the moment who (I am told by friends who are in the Police) are causing a lot of problems. Saying that though, there is another ethnic group in Bradford/Leeds area that are often associated with driving without insurance and tax. In 7 years of working I have paid over £70k in tax, any benefit to me? No not really? (Oh & the other £50k worth of tax including insurance, road, Petrol, council, VAT, Stealth).
