Aero-M
My garage have just quoted me £500 to service my supra, and change the autobox/brake fluid. Seems expensive to me.

Kirk
Auto boxes on supras arent the easiest of things to flush and change properly unless you know what your doing so i wouldnt realy say thats classed as basic. Do it wrong and you pay the price so just be careful.

Ian Ian
For the Oil Air Fuel Filters and the Coolent I would pop along to the local Toyota dealer, i get 10 -15% off when i say im in this club ( HW Moons Wigan ) as for the "fluids" the best you can afford or see Toyota again they have some offers on oil, Toyota Red coolent and brake fluids last time i was in there Cheers -Ian-
Homer
And the rest of the service items? If it's not had a FULL service in the last 3 years (and by the sounds of it, that's what you want), the list of items simply huge. It's at least a full days work from a team of mechanics and even most main dealers don't follow the service guide. If you need a copy of it post up. A full service guide is eye watering to read... It's no wonder the Toyota manual is rarely followed!

It's no wonder the Toyota manual is rarely followed! The last full service it had was in march last year, whether it was everything on the list i doubt it but on the receipt there was a fair few items done. If you could post it up would be great as I will do my best to get as much of the work done as possible on it.
jimojameso
Get your spanners out!! Servicing on a supra is pretty easy. Better than spending £

What can be dropped from the Toyota list without much worry?
Scott
If I was doing a full service I would include: Timing Belt Aux Belt Wheel Studs Coil Pack Clips Oil Oil Filter Fuel Filter Gearbox Oil Diff Oil Brake Fluid Coolant Power Steering fluid Air Filter Element Spark Plugs Bit of lube on mechanical parts that require it, hinges etc. Clean & Copper slip on the coilover adjustment Change wipers Wheel Balance & alignment Check pads (replace as necessary) Check discs (replace as necessary) Check shoes (replace as necessary) Check Lines (Replace as necessary) Probably missed out some stuff but that is off the top of my head what I would do every 3-5 years depending on use. Obviously normal services are carried out every 6 months to a year.

I'd include taking the pads out and having a good look at the piston outer seals, infact get a spray can of brake cleaner clean them all and replace them unless theyve been changed ofcourse. Obviously normal services are carried out every 6 months to a year. A good percentage of that is usualy covered in a service. There's a good reason why 90% of the other stuff isn't done at any garage. Its down to being not cost effiecent both to the customer and the garage. A proper go over like what's in the manuals takes the best part of the day, that's a lot of hours labour for 1 and a ramp tied up for a day which for a busy garage isn't a good thing but if they were to do everything by the book you would have 1 hell of a bill. The only way to get that service is with an independent specialist end of.
Homer
As an example, checking the shim clearances is listed in the 3 year service, ever heard of it being done by a garage during a major service?
