paulfurn
Hi Vanessa, try this - top one is the standard reset, bottom one is the "hard" reset: (1) Physically unplug your box from the mains supply. (2) Take Sky Viewing Card out of digibox. (3) Wait AT LEAST 1 - 2 minutes. (4) Plug the box back into the mains. (5) Wait a further 1 minute. (6)Turn the box on with the remote - until the box shows a green light, not a red one. (7) Wait until prompted to insert viewing card - once it is up, then do so. This usually sorts problems out with the Sky boxes we have in work (we have a Sky farm!) but that if that doesnt work, then try this instead. (1) Physically unplug your box from the mains supply. (2) Take Sky Viewing Card out of digibox. (3) Wait AT LEAST 1 - 2 minutes. (4) Press the BACKUP button on your digibox. KEEP IT PRESSED IN! (5) Plug the box back into the mains. (6) KEEP HOLD OF THE BACKUP BUTTON until all the light illuminate on the digibox. This is "forcing" a software download. You can let go once all the lights are up! On your screen (if scart) you should see a message telling you not to touch anything. (7) Dont touch the lights until theyve all gone out, and only the standby button is on. (8) Turn box on (9) Wait until prompted to insert viewing card - once it is up, then do so. This is a "hard reset" and usually sorts most problems out - but beware if you have a Sky+ box this will WIPE your hard drive of saved programmes. It will also clear your personal planner so you will need to set up reminders etc again. If that doesnt work, then phone Sky and explain exactly the steps above that you have taken. You will likely need an engineer out, with a replacement box (if under warranty). If not, you need a friend with a Sky box who can come round and test this their box at 9pm on your sattelite connection. If it fucks up on their box as well its likely to be a problem between the box and the dish components (cable, LNB etc etc etc). IF the loss at 9pm DOESNT happen on your friends box then it should stand to reason that there is a problem with digibox (though that is by no means certain!!!). Id also recommend that you post up on digitalspy forums as there are a few well informed people that frequent there, and even people that work within the industry who will be able to assist. Good luck!

Branners
and then you'll get cable tv lol sorry cant help but dont get cable through NTL cos their cable boxes need a power reset at least once a month and are painfully slow when going through the channel listings. KatieC
problems with my sky ?? I remember having problems like that, I had to have the LNB changed on the minidish.... I also had the box changed a while later, what is the make of box you have? How long have you had the box, have you gone on to services the top button on the remote. (usually after about 2 years they go funny) Option 4 System Setup, on the next screen 6 signal test, (this gets you signal strength and quality, you need to have signal strength in the top above 75% and quality above 50%) If you don't have that then it is dish alignment or LNB.... Hun.
Vanessa
Thanks Paul, Will have a go at the hard reset tomorrow, Will let you know if it works ?? (Hopefully) It will. or else the box gets it !!! Thankyou , Vanessa

Vanessa
Cheers Guys and gals !!!! signal strength and quality absolutley fine during daytime, goes goes banana`s every evening . I`ll wait for it to play up tonite, try the hard reset and if still not working will get someone out to look at the the LNB. Anyone know is it cheaper to have sky come out or someone local ?? JustGav
Erm, going to sound really silly... But does somebody near you have a radar jammer (The traffic kind), because I used to have a problem with my sky, in that it would work perfectly all day till I got home.. Took me 4 weeks to eventually work out why... Where I parked my car was jamming the LNB when the whistler was on.. and of course every time I went to adjust the dish I would move the car out the way hence clearing the signal AGAIN. This went on for 4 weeks until I realized my whistler was blocking the band required... Boy did sky love me for that.. Gav
Barry
but dont get cable through NTL cos their cable boxes need a power reset at least once a month and are painfully slow when going through the channel listings. JB That long! Mine needs re-setting every 3 or 4 days because all the program info dissapears. Just get the 'Searching for Programs' crap! :thumbdown
