ozz
My house is currently covered in nasty UPVC so I'm thinking of getting it taken off and rendered instead. It will be breeze block underneath, but the dormers are wood underneath UPVC so I'm thinking it will be more cost effective to clad the dormers in cedar (as I can do that myself) and render the block. I'm getting some companies out this week to quote but I know there are some knowledgeable people on here (Jamie?!) so was looking for advice on cost and if its possible to add insulation? House is roughly same size on the back (l-shape). So, ballpark costs so I can sanity check quotes that come in? Better options? Pic below - I've smoothed the UPVC and added wood effect, crap photoshopping!
Wez
Is that just one house?

Suprab1
Sorry don't know nothing about uk price but thats a pritty strait forward looking house for plastering. You could get insulation fixed to the wall outside and the render comes in buckets pre mixed but i'd say it would stick out over your stone work. You might be able to get a track for it sitting on that blends in with your stone or you could just put insulated slab (plaster board) inside and skim them. I'm sure some off the lads that side of the pond will know better about your options over there but hope this helps a bit. Another thing about insulation on the outside is a longer process, more expensive and should only really be done in fine weather as it takes a while to dry out. Rob
Renders like STO will allow you to build in insulation as part of the render system. Sto is expensive though, but it is the market leader. Oh , and you'll never have to paint it. Otherwise you could fix waterproof insulating boards like Rockwool Duorock (iirc) onto the face of the block then render over that. ozz
I think insulation is out then, I can't spend too much as I won't get it back when I sell. The priority is to tidy it up and ditch the UPVC. What does an average house cost to render? I've never had it done. I'd like to think 5-6k would see the job done, but I'm thinking closer to 10k??
