imi
Quick question all. I have about 7 Ring terminal connections mounted on the positive battery terminal for various items (HID kit, stereo, etc). Now I was thinking of tidying this up as some of the cabled are being stretched, is it OK to use the Round Plate aggregator off an earthing kit to mount all the items onto the positive terminal. Attached is a picture of the said item. http://www.baolibing.com/20090107/pic/uploadpic/2009111713273663893.jpg Edited January 31, 2010 by imi (see edit history)
Wez
It would work but would be a large chunk of metal exposed with a positive feed.
imi
It would work but would be a large chunk of metal exposed with a positive feed. Is that a good or a bad thing? What to look out for? Whats a recommended way to tidy up the cables leading to the battery?
Wez
I would go for something thats insulated, check out here for lots of options http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product_list/c_path/48_215_291/spd/fuse-holders-distribution-blocks.html
imi
Thanks Wez, so the key it to have it insulated (may see if I can find a way to cover it). If not, then look for a distribution box that can take wires with ring terminal ends - does that make sense?

I would mount an insulated distribution block near the battery and wire everything into that and run a single cable upto the battery, depending if the items are already fused or not would decide which unit to go for. Scott
Personally I would have the distributor inside the car. Why are the HID's running off of the battery? They should just run directly off your orignal light ballasts. For your stereo equipment just run some 0 gauge into the cabin and use a distributor to split it off to the various components. I use HID's & I also have 3 amps and a PC in the car. I only have 1 extra connection coming off the +ive terminal though, and that is into the cabin. As Wez said though, if you really must keep the current setup then an insulated distribution block will be best.

Looking for a suitable fused junction box as we speak

imi
Found the following on ebay 12 Fuse Box http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/12-Way-Blade-Fuse-Box-Holder-lucar-terminals_W0QQitemZ110311471769QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item19af137a99#ht_500wt_956 And then a power distribution box like this http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/10484.html is it possible to get a single box that holds car fuses (upto 20A) and then a single thick cable to the battery as supposed to using two boxes above?
