dr_jekyll
i dont see why people dont use the lexus ls400 4 pots , they use 315mm discs ,99.99% direct fir on a supra (1 small pice of filing literally 20 seconds) and they are ally so are verry light, lighter than uk specs. not to mention they were designed to stop a 1.8 tonne v8 car these are by far the best things i have put on my car Edited February 9, 2010 by dr_jekyll (see edit history)
RobD
No, definitely not New UK ones, especially at a good discount are the way to go unless you fancy splurging on a full kit from one of the big three? No, I think the uk ones will do me fine, perhaps if I ever get chasing Big BHP then I may opt for a couple of grands worth of brakes I think the quotes from work was £587 for the front and £525 for the rear! Abz
Ever driven a Range Rover Sport? Still amazes me how the brembo brakes stop such a heavy car so well! Though Chris has a very valid point regarding brackets etc. Trust me Rob you will be fine with UK's & a decent pad setup (CW Pads are good along with endless & a couple other). I have JSpec's on mine & currently with OEM pads but I have some yellow stuff lying around which I might try. They are pretty good brakes though for normal driving & a bit of fast road, though track days they would be rubbish! Go UK & remember to get me my set when you do mate

dr_jekyll
im going leave the saftey on and say thats what the guy at the lexus/toyota garage told me told me. but he had both there and these were a noticeable amount lighter but pretty much the same size

Chris Wilson
They would fit under SOME 17 inch rims, certainly they should fit under stock UK / US / European rims, which are cheap and light, and of course, fit properly.
dr_jekyll
i just found out the lexus calipers are 6lbs lighter each than the uk calipers so i would say they would be all ally uk caliper = 15lbs over 323mm disc ls 400 = 9 lbs over 315mm disc if you have the corrdect offset they should fit under 17s
Chris Wilson
So, have you actually got these Lexus calipers on stock uprights, over stock 323 mm MKIV UK front discs, on a MKIV? Have you looked at the rear calipers off the LS400?
dr_jekyll
no , i have these on stock uprights, on my j-spec mkiv using the lexus 315mm discs. as an upgrade from j-spec 2 pots. i have looked into the rear conversion but due to rear hub diferences i was told its a non starter
Suprab1
Ok here's a pic of my 17" wheel, there is 6cm from the disc to the spoke and 1" from outside edge of jspec caliper to spoke on wheel. Do you think the ls400 calipers would fit behind my wheels?
dr_jekyll
its hard to say mate , its quiet a chunky caliper. after a quick whip arond unger the car with a tape mesure id say you need 180mm from the centre of the hub to the inner wheel and 70mm from the face of the disc to the spokes. Suprab1
Sound mate thanx, what would you think of small wheel spacers to get the clearance? i've read a few on the site doesn't recomend them, but if they were just thick enough to clear these brakes as i don't want to change my wheels. dr_jekyll
if its just a few mm i shouldnt imagen it would make to much difference but im sure a more spacer knowlageble will be along to shed more light on it shortly

If they were a correct fit on a a 323 mm disc they would overhang by 4 mm. It would appear that they may not work on a UK size disc, which is a shame. I am pretty sure the pads are the same as UK MKIV caliper pads, if not there's still a chance they'd work on the bigger diameter discs.. SamuraiFlash
I'm going to look for some ls400 front calipers and ill buy a pir of brembo 2pot rear calipers off evo 8 as they fit straight on. garethr
...Have you looked at the rear calipers off the LS400?The rears are solid discs, and opposed piston calipers with different mounting centres.
garethr
...I know someone selling the Lexus LS400 Mark 3 calipers from 1994, will these fit? No, you need the later and bigger UCF20 calipers. The earlier ones were smaller and not very good Thanks Craig They may be the ones you want, 1994 was the changeover year. The earlier LS400 calipers (model code UCF10) were sliding calipers like the "J-Spec" Supra brakes, so it's obvious which is which.
