Recommend me an MP3 player but not an ipod.

The other half has been using an ipod classic for a couple of years now and itunes just gives me a headache. Always feezes and crashes and its far from the easiest software i have used.

We have had enough of it now and want something decent thats easy to put music on the same as you would a usb stick without using some crappy program to help you do it.

I even used the mgtek dopisp with media player and that helped a little but why they cant make it easier to use is beyond me.

It must be robust as she goes down the gym 4 times a week and battery life must be as good or better than the ipod.

Cost the same or less than an equivalent ipod classic 80gb or current model.

Doesn't have to play films or be to flash but have the ability to see what song is playing and select the ones you want.

Been searching on the net but there are so many now its all to much.

TIA

James

Get a decent mobile phone with loads of memory instead. Convergence, it's the future.

She aint long had a new phone plus its does hold a fair amount of tunes but as she uses it for the gym we cant risk her phone breaking.

Get her a iPhone :p

But on the question of What mp3 player, What about the samsung Yepp YP-P2??

Dek.

Cant stand apple any more and i personally hate the ipod so would not be spending out on an iphone

I do like samsung stuff. Will give that one a look.

Before I turned to the dark side of apple :flame:, I had a Creative Zen and must say it was a cracking little MP3 player.

The sound on it is slightly better than my Ipod and putting music on it is as simple as drag and drop.

If I ever had enough of Ipods (which is very unlikely) I WOULD go back to the creative MP3 players again with no qualms at all.

Hope this helps mate :)

8gb would be enough space to have music for the gym? Or would it be for alot of diff type of music for more everyday use?

Dek.

Thinking about it more i'm sure it will be more than enough. But go for a 16gb just incase i want to put some of my rubbish on it

Is there anything physically wrong with the iPod dude?

If not then why not stick rockbox on it?

http://www.rockbox.org/

This will turn the iPod into a 'normal' mp3 player where you can drag n drop songs onto it like a memory card - no iTunes etc.

I done it on my iPod video - it even plays doom!

Give me a shout if you want help with it but you've been quite the little hacker yourself lately so expect you'll work it out!

You maybe a god! i will give that a go. Drag n drop on an ipod. How it should have been.

The ipod seems fine. Its the useless apple crap that comes with it.
