caseys
You need to create a boot disk/cd and boot off that then you can format the hdd. or alternatively boot off your windows cd, it should give an option there to format/partition your hdd. At least nt/xp/vista gave that option so I hope 7 does
T2 MSW
You dont need to create boot disks these days. If you boot from the windows 7 CD part way through the installation you will be asked if you want to do a new install or a full one. Select full. You will then be asked which partition to install it too. There is an option to delete all the partition and recreate them. This will delete the FAT table on the disk and allow you to esentially install to a blank drive.

Scott
Put the Windows 7 installation disc into the PC. With my motherboard I can hit F8 during the boot screen and then select the DVD-RW as the first boot device. You need to boot from the Windows Disc in order to get what you want to do done. You might have to enter the bios to do this. If you are a complete noob to all this, this will be the hardest task for you. Once you have booted from the DVD just make sure you click "Advanced Drive Options" or something like that when it is asking you which drive you want to install on. Click on the drive you wish to format and just click format. This will not be a low level format though. The best way to do this is from a boot disc or diskette as previously mentioned. supra dan
it loads the first files ok then stops and says cant copy some files they are missing or corrupt. how can they be missing on a blank harddrive?
Scott
They will be missing from your installation CD, possibly a bad disc or scratched etc. At what point during the install is this happening? You aren't giving me a lot to go on here, are you in a hurry when you post or something? lol Is this happening when the windows files are loading into memory via a black screen and a white progress line, or is this after all selections have been made and the installation itself has began?
