For the simple reason theres a thing called auto pilot, I know alot of pilots personally and they have all said many a times as soon as the plane leaves the ground they turn on the auto pilot, thus removing them from the controls. Also alot of airports now are using a system which has the auto pilot to land the planes. It has now come to the point they are saying that human intervention with the controls is as a back up.
