RedM
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/scotland/glasgow_and_west/8484978.stm What a pointless exercise. Even if he is (technically) in the wrong there must be a better use of time that the police could explore. Country...downhill...etc etc
Charlotte
What do they want him to do, sit there with snot hanging down his nose?!
RedM
What do they want him to do, sit there with snot hanging down his nose?! Probably. It wouldn't be distracting at all that.
charlton
If he really was stantionary that is bad, personally I think smoking at the wheel shouldn't be allowed either
tbourner
Maybe he was supposed to stop the engine and take the key out before blowing his nose, then hope he was finished before the traffic moved off.
TLicense
I'm betting a tenner this will be dropped before it gets to court.
Matt H
If there is nothing more to it than the article says, that's the biggest, most ridiculous police farce I've read in ages. Do these chaps have no common sense? Or anything better to do?
Tricky-Ricky
I have never heard such fooking rubbish in my life! (except on here on occasion;)) Anyway the nanny state ideas and laws are just getting more and more ridiculous:bang: I do and always will drive most of the time with one hand, and so according to these stupid laws I'm a danger! so does that mean that a person with one hand cant drive an automatic? So you can't change gear cos its dangerous, put on your demister, turn the heater up/down, need i go on? Grrr. Bring on the revolution:soap:
Matt H
Another thought, what legilsation / law is he getting prosecuted under?
S44M KT
How can they fine him for blowing his nose in stationary traffic when your legally allowed to drive and smoke a cigarette? I can understand being fined for something whilst the vehicle is actually moving but for gods sake, its not like the car was going anywhere. This country is going down the pan so fast its unbelievable.
tbourner
They're cracking down on the rather subjective law of not being in proper control of a motor vehicle - which applies whenever you are sitting in the car with the key in the ignition (doesn't even need to be running). So if you're completely pissed and listening to the radio parked up you can be done for drink driving (or drunk in charge of a motor vehicle), similarly if it's reasonable to assume that you are about to drive (like when sitting in traffic) you can be done for not being in control - if you were eating a sandwhich whilst sat at the lights they would have to assume you would continue eating it when you drive off - same principle for this case. Stonkin
i'd definetly go to court if this was me and rip everyone there a new a*!ehole in the process. what an absolute joke and waste of everyones time
plus1
I think it was Dorset police that are taking this to extremes and are clamping down on anything they can ie, changing radio station, smoking, eating and the list goes on! Go and catch some real criminals you good for nothing "police farce" force!!!!!!

Need4Speed
How long before somebody gets done for sneezing while driving! Is it any wonder the police don't command the respect of the public? Note: I've left the country!
Chris Wilson
Did the police use one of their snouts to get evidence?
AndrewOW
How long before somebody gets done for sneezing while driving! Is it any wonder the police don't command the respect of the public? Note: I've left the country! That's what I was thinking! Sneezing is completely natural and normally comes unannounced, so it's more lawful to let the snot run down your front than quickly wipe it away? Absolutely nuts. As for me, I like the taste of my own snot, so I wouldn't get into trouble, unless I get done for eating at the wheel etc etc.
RedM
How can they fine him for blowing his nose in stationary traffic when your legally allowed to drive and smoke a cigarette? I may be wrong but I don't believe that smoking while driving is completely legal. I think there is a loophole or something. Where's Doug? Bloomin' coppers. Never one around when you want one. Benyon
What about if a Pilot wiped his nose while flying a plane full of holiday makers? surely that would put more lives at risk, and he should be sent to jail for 25 to life. Would that make more sense to the Bacon?

Well.... Lets just say i would put my fag in somewhere they wouldn't welcome it.
