Guest suprasutty
I have just noticed a strange drone appearing from the rear drivers wheel which only starts at around 80mph and gets louder, no vibration with it and its not present at any other speeds. Has anyone else had this problem.

pistonbroke
Place a brick in front of the front wheels, jack the car up at the rear, release the handbrake. Now grab the offending wheel on either side and shake it, see if there is any play. Spin the wheel and listen for worn bearing noises, also see if the wheel spins freely to verify whether the handbrake is binding on. Shake the wheel from top to bottom the same way as you did the sides, again to check for play. If you have any play, you need a new bearing. There may not be any play as it is droning not knocking, try and find someone with an Infra red heat gun and ping the hubs after a spirited drive, the offending one will be hotter. Chris Wilson
A semi seized brake will cause that. Is one wheel easier to turn than the other with the car jacked up? If it has Jap spec brakes it's more likely to be a brake issue than UK calipers as the Jap ones have sliders that regularly give trouble on old cars that haven't had them greased correctly. Guest suprasutty
Found the problem and it wasn`t the bearing. Stripped calipers and cleaned regreased and noise gone. Cheers
