grandiaerbest
This was the only Honda Integra Type R 1998 in the Faroe Islands, and I was the owner. I was the one that was driving too fast, and i lost control and hit another car. I had all the blame in this crash, the road may have been wet but I was driving like a moron, and I feel very sorry for the other driver, I have said sorry many times and we have actually become "friends" after this, very nice older woman, she forgave me right away and was a true hero in my eyes, and I admire people like her. I still have not forgiven myself for this, this happened back in 2008. this is also why I always drive my Supra very sensible. No one died.... but i broke my hand and dislocated my knee, and hit my head pretty bad. The other driver(woman) only got small bruises(Thank god for that). The worst part was that the car caught fire and I was stuck, I had to fight my way out with a broken hand and a dislocated knee, my leg was stuck but I manage to get free, how I got free I will never know. but i thought I was going be burned alive in the car, so I somehow manage to get free. the drivers door as you will see was stuck. so i had to crawl to the other door, and as soon as I got out, I went right over to the other car to help the woman but she was also stuck and very confused. She kept going on about how her child was missing, so i looked everywhere in till the paramedics came and I found no child, I was sure i had killed a child while I was laying in the ambulance. I felt so sorry for her and was very angry with myself for driving like a moron. (Her car as you will see, was at the very edge of a mountain and I looked down and no one could survive a fall like that) But as I was lying in the hospital the police came in and I told them that it was all my fault and the woman had done nothing wrong at all. And they then told me that there was NO child and the woman was just talking nonsense as she was so confused. Boy was I glad for her and everyone including myself. This was a lesson for life for me, and it really is sad that people almost had to die for me to get it. I was always going on about how I knew how to drive and nothing would ever happen to me. I feel very embarrassed that I was like that only two years ago. Scott
I think this is definitely one for the spirited driving forum. Could maybe make a few people think more about their style of driving. Big thumbs up for taking responsibility. Glad nothing too serious happened. Live and learn, the faster you drive the less time you will have to learn. grandiaerbest
I think this is definitely one for the spirited driving forum. Yes, feel free to move it, I do not know how though. Could maybe make a few people think more about their style of driving. This is what I hope to achieve, make people think twice before doing something they may regret later. ilicos
All credit to you buddy, too many people would still be blaming the wet road etc. Glad it was not the last lesson you got to learn!
Axle
A chav - You are not. Top man for being so honest and open.
Thorin
Yes that looks like a nasty impact alright. Well done for posting this up, and admitting to it. Hopefully people reading this will take note. Too often we have people complaining about the auto-box kicking down, or diesel, or badgers etc. when they probably know all too well it was their own driving that was at fault. Matt H
wow, the pic of that red car on the verge of that cliff is sureal! Fair play for being open with it. It's good that no one was seriously hurt.
stevie_b
It's to your credit that you had the balls to own up to it.
Terminator
Thank for posting this. It is not often someone is prepared to publicly admit that an accident was totally their fault. You were extremely lucky that no one died in this accident. The only time I have lost control of my Supra, it was totally my fault, too fast for the conditions, but I was fortunate I got the car back under control before getting anywhere near any other cars. If there had been traffic near by, it would have ended very differently. It is always easier to say conditions beyond our control, were a major factor in loss of control, rather than admitting, we got it wrong. When you read through many car forums, you would think there must be major faults with the tank filler necks on all diesel power vehicles, with the amount of diesel spills that are alleged to be on our roads. deathmonkey
Fair play mate. Good post. Glad everyone was ok, and good to see you learnt something about it. I had an accident, just my car involved, back in 2005 from my stupidity, and I've definitely learnt from it, so I'm glad you have as well . monsween
Yup far too many people want to blame the road/conditions etc etc rather than their right foot. Fair play for standing up and owning up. We've all done it just some are luckier than others.
dukenukem
Thanks for posting this. I got caught speeding on the weekend and no longer have a clean license. That's made me more caucious now but reading this will do even more so. As above, we've all done it but sometimes something can happen in a split second you don't expect, and then suddenly you realise it wasn't worth it. Abz
Well done for posting as mentioned by other members. The main thing is no one was hurt & although 2 years ago you are still scarred by this event which will have taught you a valuable lesson. Posting this will hopefully get a few owners to rethink driving fast, I have to admit since getting the Supra I have been driving slower than normal (I like to cruise along now). I am sure we all do boot it a little on public roads, but let this be a lesson.

shima60
tbh mate we've all been there at some stage. although luckily in mine i was only doing 40 and the van hit me lol but still its scary when they say (you could have died) yea thats not nice. i calmed down a lot after that glad your ok and no harm came to the woman though thats the main thing. we all drive like that some times. it just takes a little smash to calm us back down. my before: After: must be a thing with honda's p.s van driver wasnt wearing his seatbelt. smashed his teeth out etc. not really a good scene. although he tried to blame it all on me
