Basically i lent my other car to a mate and when i got the car back last night i found a parking ticket on the passenger seat, he'd got it on the 2nd January. Now i can't get the money off him because he's currently banged up awaiting trial for armed robbery (his finger prints were on the carrier bag shoved at the shop keeper. Shop keeper says the person robbing the place wasn't wearing gloves and his prints aren't anywhere else in the shop / on the door handle etc but as the police have no other suspects they're trying to pin it on him). Hand brake is on its way out - sticks straight up in the air, headlight out, air bag light on, can open it using the drivers door but can't lock it and there's crap all over the place.... although that'll be the plod searching it. Look for the smallest mistakes or even bigger ones like reg\colour\date time. Then check the area to see if they can give you a ticket (Check road signs\restrictions etc). Meko i'd check all the details are correct, and if they are, then i'd just pay it and save the hassle because I don't think they will accept someone else driving your car as a valid excuse unless your mate wants to own up to it and pay it. On the ticket I got recently it said once 28 days are up a Notice to Owner would be issued. On my local councils website it says this: 'On what grounds can I make formal representation against a Notice to Owner? There are only 6 grounds on which representation can be made. These are: 1. The contravention did not occur. 2. I was not the keeper of the vehicle at the time of the contravention. 3. The penalty exceeded the relevant amount. 4. The traffic order was invalid. 5. We are a hire firm and have supplied the name of the hirer 6. The vehicle had been taken without my consent. See back of Notice to Owner for full details.' Sakey Posted January 26, 2010 Share Posted January 26, 2010 I've had a couple, one was for when the parking ticket fell off the window because the glue was worse than a sticky note . I put in an appeal to the council (They will make it so it wont go up untill the appeal goes through) but still lost the appeal:( The other one was for parking on a single yellow outside my flat for 5 mins. Ran down the street after him to have a polite word and he cancelled it there and then. Lucky I suppose I would but in an appeal, theres really nothing to lose. LOF7Y Posted January 26, 2010 Share Posted January 26, 2010 i would try and challenge it on the grounds that they haven't got the ticket correct i got a parking ticket in town only because the ticket slid down the dash so it was unreadable so i contacted the council and they said as long as i can prove that i had a valid ticket at the time the ticket was issued they will drop it so i sent them the ticket and i got a reply saying they had dropped it Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
